Why Israel Still Hasn’t Started Its Ground Operation in Gaza
PJ Media ^ | 10/23/2023 | Robert Spencer

What’s taking so long? Why hasn’t Israel moved into Gaza and begun to obliterate Hamas? The answer, I’m afraid, is drearily predictable.

The death toll for the Hamas jihad massacres in Israel has now climbed over 1,400, yet over two weeks after the Oct. 7 attacks that appalled the world, the promised Israeli ground offensive has not yet materialized. The reason for the delay can be summed up in what the man who claims to be president would say were two words, and those words are that same man’s name: Old Joe Biden.

The Wall Street Journal reported Monday that “U.S. and European governments have joined to put pressure on Israel to hold off on its ground invasion of Gaza to allow more time to win the release of hostages held by Hamas, U.S. and foreign officials said.” That pressure almost certainly originates from the Biden regime, which showed its hostility to Israel from the beginning by restoring aid to the Palestinians after Trump had stopped that aid in view of their continuing support for jihad terror, and which reaffirmed that hostility just days ago, when Old Joe went all the way to Israel to stab our most reliable Middle East ally in the back and announce that he was giving $100 million to Gaza, which means, despite his denials, $100 million to Hamas.

Meanwhile, the Journal adds that “several countries have been trying to leverage their contacts with Hamas to press the militant group to release the hostages taken during their onslaught on Israel earlier this month. One U.S. official had said that Qatar’s government had been very helpful on the matter, but noted the difficulties of reaching an agreement given Israel’s bombardment of Gaza and the spiraling humanitarian crisis there.”

Yeah, that may be gumming up the works.

Another problem may be that Qatar is quite chummy with Hamas. On the day of the jihad massacres in Israel, Hamas leaders were videoed in a plush office in Qatar, watching news of the attacks and then getting down on their knees to give thanks to Allah for the wanton butchery of Israeli civilians.

A demented Biden’s reelection chance were nil, according to the laws
of diminishing returns........until the attack on Israel fell in his lap.
Now he’s suddenly morphed into a strong, decisive “leader.”

In Israel:

<><>Biden “formally announced” the “already-arranged deal” to allow humanitarian assistance to move into Gaza from Egypt, and $100 million in new aid for those in need among Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank.......which was hammered out “WITH Israel in Washington” BEFORE Biden left.

<><>Biden also told Netanyahu that he would go to the Congress with a military support package for Israel of “unprecedented size.” (source yahoo.com)

Backstory: Since 1973, Israel has received more than $120 billion US tax
dollars in MILITARY assistance alone, including “three special aid” packages.
<><>billions for signing the Israel-Egypt peace treaty
<><>billions for Israel’s withdrawal from the Sinai.
<><>billions for redeployment of Israeli forces
<><>rebuilding Israeli air bases in the Negev cost $5 billion.

Not content w/ the mega billions already in his pocket, Zelensky now says
he wants US tax dollars to Ukraine according to the Israeli model......here’s what he means:

Congressional Research Service
US Foreign aid to Israel
60 page detailed report

https://crsreports.congress.gov/product/pdf/RL/RL33222/44

The concerned Israeli lobby made sure Congress is required by law to ensure that U.S. military aid in the Middle East region doesn’t damage Israel’s military superiority over its neighbors. That requirement enjoys broad bipartisan support and has served as a benchmark for ensuring Israel receives robust U.S. support.

Bidenomics: U.S. Budget Deficit Explodes 23% Higher to $1.7 Trillion
Ntl debt increased from $32 trillion to $33.6 trillion, in the last four months.

The U.S. budget deficit increased 23 percent to $1.7 trillion, an increase of $320 billion, in the year (after the Biden administration pushed through the Inflation Reduction Act which it claimed would close the government’s funding gap). The explosive growth in the deficit came as revenue fell $457 billion from a year ago and expenses decreased by just $137 billion. Total spending for the year came in at $6.134 trillion.

Politics aside, I think the answer is simple: Israel is preparing the battlefield. A standard tactic before a land assault is to launch a sustained artillery and air barrage on the enemy and his positions. Destroy as much infrastructure and kill as many troops as possible before committing your own forces. Given the anticipated intensity of ground combat in Gaza, Israel would be foolish to just rush their troops in without taking this crucial step.

Our senile president and State Department won't let them, of course. I honestly thought Biden and Blinken would give Israel a month or so to decimate Hamas before they started babbling about a cease fire and negotiations, but obviously I was far too optimistic.

It’s gotta be Biden. Israel now has the initiative and for one of the few times there’s tacit support by nearly everyone for them to retaliate.

The window of time they have until the antisemitic usuals come out (general left, China, Russia) start acting like it’s the end of the world if Israel cleans out the trash. Maybe a month more at most.

If Hamas were smart they would release 90% of the hostages and then huge pressure would land on Israel for a cease fire (in exchange for the other 10%)...the IDF is waiting too long.

the IDF is waiting too long.

It's now or never. The world is going to forget about the innocent Israelis massacred at the music festival and they will pressure them to stop bombing Gaza. The Americans will lose patience and demand Israel to agree to a cease fire.

Netanyahu is a an anguished man. He knows that when he orders the ground invasion of Gaza the helpless hostages will be murdered. He also knows that his enthusiastic, young soldiers, most of whom are combat inexperience will have a grueling urban street fight and will take significant casualties. Netanyahu knows that he will likely be out of office within a year. The Israeli intelligence failure and the breech of border security for whatever reason happened on his watch. Netanyahu will leave office without definitively dealing with the Iranian mullah regime which is the greatest existential threat to Israel. Despite his many accomplishments and long career of service, he will leave with a heavy heart and consider himself a failure.

BTW have little doubt that the CIA and the NSA knew of the arsenal buildup within Gaza that had to go though Egypt which the US subsidizes. Suspect that the Biden cabal , while perhaps not expecting such a savage raid by Hamas did not fully warn the Israelis. Also the Israeli intelligence apparatus, known to be hostile to Netanyahu, perhaps did not tell the Prime Minister everything it knew or suspected Both they and the Biden cabal did not want the severity of what happened, but they would not have minded Netanyahu being politically accountable by Hamas activity.

Then they haven't been properly trained. The only Goliad in thing they have is the Air Force.

If you tell your enemy beforehand what you are going to do, then you give them the opportunity to prepare for it, thereby making your task that much more difficult and dangerous. What you can instead do, is tell them you are going to do one thing, and then do something else, for which they are unprepared. And that “something else” could even be doing nothing else.

I wonder if the reason is concern over a second northern front without enough resources to fight on both fronts, I suppose from Israel’s point of view if there are a few releases of hostages and targeted bombing can continue, there is no urgent reason to move to the inevitably bloody invasion, possibly also waiting for weather to turn colder figuring that will weaken resistance among an enemy without shelter. Possibly another factor is that valuable intel is being gathered, and said intel would stop being available if enemies were not at enough leisure to be in communication.

If Israel is gaining daily in intel concerning positions of key enemy fighters (who are targeted for elimination), then why move before a full picture can be drawn up? Delay could also be related to logistics of hostage rescue.

I would have to think also on a larger regional scale, various players are in constant communication and Israel is no doubt monitoring all of that, and probably gaining all sorts of knowledge about Iran that they can use if they decide to strike them.

This is why the US developed the atomic bomb.

But what good is it if we can’t kill the bad guys and are worried they will soon kill us through Mutual Assured Destruction?

My money’s on Biden (read: Odungo) deliberately gumming up the works to allow his beloved muzzlimes time to maneuver. May they both be damned for eternity in never-ending agony.

Simpler answer: Israel knows it cannot win a ground war in Gaza.

The October 7th debacle should have been an eye-opener for every Israeli. If I lived there I would have absolutely zero confidence in my government to do anything right.

It’d be interesting to look at previous large scale Israeli ground actions following particularly significant terrorist attacks. How quickly could Israel get the larger actions fully rolling, and so on?

I expected Israel to move once the weather cleared last week, but, they may be calculating they can degrade Hamas faster than Hamas can repair its defenses. I don’t buy the argument that under bombardment, Hamas can greatly expand / enhance its defenses beyond what they’ve already built in the last decade or so.

I also wonder what preps yet need to be made to fight Hezbollah? From the Israeli view (much less the US), waiting for the Eisenhower strike force to arrive as additional backup likely makes a lot of sense.
