Another problem may be that Qatar is quite chummy with Hamas. On the day of the jihad massacres in Israel, Hamas leaders were videoed in a plush office in Qatar, watching news of the attacks and then getting down on their knees to give thanks to Allah for the wanton butchery of Israeli civilians.
A demented Biden’s reelection chance were nil, according to the laws
of diminishing returns........until the attack on Israel fell in his lap.
Now he’s suddenly morphed into a strong, decisive “leader.”
In Israel:
<><>Biden “formally announced” the “already-arranged deal” to allow humanitarian assistance to move into Gaza from Egypt, and $100 million in new aid for those in need among Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank.......which was hammered out “WITH Israel in Washington” BEFORE Biden left.
<><>Biden also told Netanyahu that he would go to the Congress with a military support package for Israel of “unprecedented size.” (source yahoo.com)
Backstory: Since 1973, Israel has received more than $120 billion US tax
dollars in MILITARY assistance alone, including “three special aid” packages.
<><>billions for signing the Israel-Egypt peace treaty
<><>billions for Israel’s withdrawal from the Sinai.
<><>billions for redeployment of Israeli forces
<><>rebuilding Israeli air bases in the Negev cost $5 billion.

The concerned Israeli lobby made sure Congress is required by law to ensure that U.S. military aid in the Middle East region doesn’t damage Israel’s military superiority over its neighbors. That requirement enjoys broad bipartisan support and has served as a benchmark for ensuring Israel receives robust U.S. support.

The U.S. budget deficit increased 23 percent to $1.7 trillion, an increase of $320 billion, in the year (after the Biden administration pushed through the Inflation Reduction Act which it claimed would close the government’s funding gap). The explosive growth in the deficit came as revenue fell $457 billion from a year ago and expenses decreased by just $137 billion. Total spending for the year came in at $6.134 trillion.

Thank God this idiot author isn’t running the war
Politics aside, I think the answer is simple: Israel is preparing the battlefield. A standard tactic before a land assault is to launch a sustained artillery and air barrage on the enemy and his positions. Destroy as much infrastructure and kill as many troops as possible before committing your own forces. Given the anticipated intensity of ground combat in Gaza, Israel would be foolish to just rush their troops in without taking this crucial step.
Netanyahu is a an anguished man. He knows that when he orders the ground invasion of Gaza the helpless hostages will be murdered. He also knows that his enthusiastic, young soldiers, most of whom are combat inexperience will have a grueling urban street fight and will take significant casualties. Netanyahu knows that he will likely be out of office within a year. The Israeli intelligence failure and the breech of border security for whatever reason happened on his watch. Netanyahu will leave office without definitively dealing with the Iranian mullah regime which is the greatest existential threat to Israel. Despite his many accomplishments and long career of service, he will leave with a heavy heart and consider himself a failure.
BTW have little doubt that the CIA and the NSA knew of the arsenal buildup within Gaza that had to go though Egypt which the US subsidizes. Suspect that the Biden cabal , while perhaps not expecting such a savage raid by Hamas did not fully warn the Israelis. Also the Israeli intelligence apparatus, known to be hostile to Netanyahu, perhaps did not tell the Prime Minister everything it knew or suspected Both they and the Biden cabal did not want the severity of what happened, but they would not have minded Netanyahu being politically accountable by Hamas activity.
If you tell your enemy beforehand what you are going to do, then you give them the opportunity to prepare for it, thereby making your task that much more difficult and dangerous. What you can instead do, is tell them you are going to do one thing, and then do something else, for which they are unprepared. And that “something else” could even be doing nothing else.
Gaza is Israel’s Iwo Jima.
