The people of Israel became complacent, the government started implementing gun control for "safety", and look where they are today. Hiding in their homes with no weapons to defend themselves and just hoping the Hamas soldiers don't knock down their door.
I hope their careful who they give guns to, as not everyone in Israel is horrified by the attack.
(obviously I’m referring to the Leftists there)
“Israel’s gun control policies worsened the death toll”
“Israeli authorities have learned from this and are making changes to their gun control policies (archived links) to allow their citizens to bear arms more easily. It’s not much, but something is better than nothing. And it’s better late than never. I hope this is a first step to liberalizing gun laws so Israelis can defend themselves from the horror that some evil actors desperately want to inflict upon them.”
Too late. Thank GOD that we have the 2nd. Literaly.
Better late than never. I hope this ruling does not get rescinded at some point.
oh, they do it now? awesome
I’ve only carried once in my life (weddding reception in the fringes of downtown St Louis).
Starting tomorrow, whenever I leave the house, my Glock 17 goes with me, concealed or otherwise...
The thing about it is that although he has ordered the laws to be loosened, the supply of firearms is bound to be extremely tight and the demand extremely high. Getting a permit to carry a firearm may be easier than actually obtaining one.
We are like our ancestors discussing world events right after the Nazi’s invaded Poland. Change is a comin’. Prepare accordingly.
When I saw footage of the paratroopers descending on the music festival, I kept wondering why the attendees didn’t open fire. If this happened during a NASCAR race none of the attackers would have touched the ground alive.
Most of them should be experienced enough to load and fire weapons since most serve in the military - men and women.
I was surprised it was so easy for Hamas to breach the Gaza fence. I though that border was locked down like the one in the north with Lebanon and Syria.
bkmk
If you read the entire article, you will find their laws are actually rather lax.
What they're doing now is streamlining the process in anticipation of a flood of citizens wishing to arm themselves.
The first change is moving from an in-person interview to a phone interview for gun-carry applicants.
The second change allows anyone who had a permit to purchase a firearm in 2023 but didn’t do so before the license expired to buy a gun without going through the process. He estimated that would apply to 4,000 citizens.
He said another 1,800 citizens would also be allowed to retrieve a gun they were forced to give up in the last six months because the owner didn’t get “refresher training or renewal training.”
Dang, the Israeli leftists are just as stupid as our leftists.
Too bad they didn’t do that before the attack.
A little late.
They need to not just have pistols, they need to be armed with rifles too.
And get rid of the 50 round max. They need unlimited ammo.
In fact, they need to be able to own guns as a right, and an unlimited number and unlimited ammo. They need the 2nd amendment.
Hmmmm. So, week after the phone interview, you might be “allowed” to carry. Not good enough!
🇮🇱👍
Israel has the support of their government to arm & protect themselves, while we in the U.S. have to fight our government to arm & protect ourselves every single day.
Let that sink in.
Remember when the Ukies were practicing with cardboard rifles...cuz people there were only allowed to buy guns for hunting...though I believe that changed.
Israel Weapon Industries makes excellent firearms for the US civilian market. Hopefully they’ll have the same opportunity in their own country.
Israel got got with their pants down as we did on 9/11. Civilian ownership of military weapons chambered in NATO configuration is critical for a free state. How they fell into this way of thinking is beyond reason.
