Kinzinger predicts Jordan will be next Speaker
The Hill ^ | 10/05/2023 | SARAH FORTINSKY

Former GOP Rep. Adam Kinzinger (Ill.) predicted Wednesday that Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) will become the next Speaker of the House, a spot currently vacant after Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) was ousted from it on Tuesday.

In an interview on CNN’s “AC-360,” Kinzinger said he expects that the candidacy of Jordan — who has entered the race for Speaker along with House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.), McCarthy’s longtime No. 2 — will become a “new litmus test” for conservatives. “Jim is going to be now the new litmus test of: Are you a true conservative or not? Steve Scalise won’t be. It’ll be Jim Jordan,” Kinzinger said. “And so there will be a slow acquiescence of everybody to Jim Jordan. That’s my prediction.”

“If he’s an upgrade why didn’t he ever achieve Speaker before?”

************

Fair question. Probably because of the GOP’s aversion to anyone who shows any signs of competency. My expectations for Jordan are low. But then again he doesn’t have to do much of anything to be an upgrade over McCarthy.

Any of the 8 that ousted McLiar.

LOL. News flash (and math lesson), dude ...

None of the Democrats who joined these 8 in dumping McCarthy are going to support any of them for Speaker.

And the 200+ Republicans who backed McCarthy aren't going to support any of them, either.

Hard no to Nancy Mace. That vote was a stopped clock situation for her

I’ll take Gaetz math over RINO math any day.

I want to post this.. Overlook my interruption.
From family in El Paso today.
****
Ben Bergquam that reports on Bannon’s show is posting videos on Twitter”X”. Never in my life had I imagined living in a war zone. We need the military. We need Trump in any capacity to stop this. I had my groceries delivered yesterday. I’m not leaving the house.

Great. “Gaetz math” isn’t going to get you a House Speaker that meets your standards.

Well then we're stuck with Chip and his spinning bowtie for awhile.

Gridlock and inability to function sure beats the status quo that got us to where we are today.

First Hannity and now this retard? I will pass.

Did you read your article?

It doesn't sound like an endorsement. Kinzinger is mockingly describing what he thinks will be the "true conservative" litmus test that will make Jordan the next speaker.

Why was he “escorted out”?

Is he not still an elected member of the House?

I think McCarthys staffers calling in support of Jordan is simply a way of trying to give the appearance that Jordan is a uniparty member. I’ve seen several of Jordan’s conservative score cards and they are in the 90’s.

what if Jordan was the replacement plan all along, even before the trigger was pulled?

I think that would make Gaetz BRILLIANT!

Gaetz made the right call in leading the ouster of McCarthy. And now, the more that comes to light it reinforces Gaetz actions.

As for Jordan backing McCarthy, I don’t hold that against him. Had he joined with the 8, he would never be able to garner the support of McCarthy moderates needed in order to get him across the threshold to Speaker.

Just food for thought, what if Trump, Jordan and the 8, worked in unison to overthrow McCarthy?

It’s possible, and if so, applaudable!!!

Jordan for the win & the block

“the 8 “far-right” Republicans who pushed McCarthy out”

***********

I see what you did there. :)

I don’t see the eight as being far right either. They are the only ones who want to save the country (and future generations) from national insolvency and endless wars.

Looked at another way, the 201 R’s are big spending liberal appeasers.

Lots of various types of vehicles down there. Nice for show but they don’t stop anything. May as well ground them all.

I doubt any of the 8 will get the vote. But let's not say that the 200+ votes for McCathy really means that there are that many upset that McCarthy is gone.

I would say most probably aren't.

My guess is Jordan gets elected by unanimous consent of the caucus.
