Kinzinger predicts Jordan will be next Speaker
The Hill ^ | 10/05/2023 | SARAH FORTINSKY

Former GOP Rep. Adam Kinzinger (Ill.) predicted Wednesday that Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) will become the next Speaker of the House, a spot currently vacant after Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) was ousted from it on Tuesday.

In an interview on CNN’s “AC-360,” Kinzinger said he expects that the candidacy of Jordan — who has entered the race for Speaker along with House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.), McCarthy’s longtime No. 2 — will become a “new litmus test” for conservatives. “Jim is going to be now the new litmus test of: Are you a true conservative or not? Steve Scalise won’t be. It’ll be Jim Jordan,” Kinzinger said. “And so there will be a slow acquiescence of everybody to Jim Jordan. That’s my prediction.”

That’s scary. I was liking the idea of Jordan as speaker. With Kinzinger supporting him, I will have to study this more closely.

Jordan must be owned and controlled for these kind of endorsements. Pass.

Honestly, I think it should be Ron DeSantis after he bows out and endorses Trump. I think he’s the right kind of jerk for the house speakers hip. Trump should back him and the party should rally around Trump as President. He already has the backing of the establishment for President so what exactly would be the problem? If MAGA could start on taking down Biden and the Ratpukes immediately instead of spending money on the primary I suspect we’d all be willing to go for it. That the real unity ticket.

Hannity and Kinzinger might like blue skies and medium rare steaks too - doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with blue skies and medium rare steaks. Jordan is the most conservative of the names being floated right now and definitely seems like an upgrade over McCarthy - if Gaetz’s hissy fit eventually results in Jordan as Speaker, that’s a far better outcome than anyone had a right to expect.

I didn’t read it as an endorsement, but simply an obvious prediction. He’s simply trying to play Nostradamous.

First Hannity and now this retard? I will pass.

There’s talk that McCarthy’s people are going around gathering support for Jordon. Given where Jordon is getting his support, I am highly suspicious. This appears like a lose or lose less situation for MAGA Republicans. No way do I want Scalice. He is part of the current House leadership and IS part of the problem. I only see Jordon as being slightly better than Scalice. Jordan has a better voting record than Scalice, but in all seriousness you need to consider that there’s about zero conservative legislation that had tangible impact on ordinary Americans. Thus, that voting record doesn’t mean much. The House GOP is filled with virtue signaling, bloviating do-nothing Republicans. Jordan is one of them - no results.

If he’s an upgrade why didn’t he ever achieve Speaker before?

Jordan won’t be great, but he’ll be an upgrade.

He’ll be hamstrung by the weight of many useless RINOs in the party.

I liked Jordan, but the endorsements mean he is Uniparty.
No more Uniparty.

I've posted this several times on related threads in the last couple of days ...

I think too much focus has been put on McCarthy there. The bigger issue is that the 8 "far-right" Republicans who pushed McCarthy out are outnumbered by the 18 Republicans who represent House districts that Biden won in 2020.

There’s no way to advance a unified agenda — let alone a CONSERVATIVE one — under those conditions.

If nothing else, Jim Jordan seems to have respect and "street cred" from the entire GOP spectrum in the House.

I never cared about what people think of me and I damn sure don’t care what other people think about other people.

Endorsements of any kind only affect those incapable of making their own decision.
