House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.) formally threw his hat into the ring to replace ousted Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), pushing the need for unity in a letter to colleagues.
“Our strength as a Conference comes from our unity, and we have seen when we unite as a Conference, we can deliver wins for the American people. Now we need to take those unified positions and work to extract conservative wins from the Democrat Senate and White House by leveraging upcoming deadlines,” he wrote.
“While we need to be realistic about what can be achieved, if we stay united, we can preserve leverage for the House to secure tangible wins in our impending policy fights.”

Scalise is a big supporter of McCarthy...
he’s undergoing cancer treatment and to much a McCarthy protege!
Jim Jordan supported McCarthy too.
Scalise is McCarthy 2.0 - don’t do it.
So did Trump
Steve Scalise - Conservative Review Liberty Score: 58%
Jim Jordan - Conservative Review Liberty Score: 94%
Kevin McCarthy - Conservative Review Liberty Score: 54%
(Bad taste?)
As some one said elsewhere, he is sniffing for unicorn farts.
(I still think the plan is to install Jordan as replacement)
Gaetz made the right call in leading the ouster of McCarthy. And now, the more that comes to light it reinforces Gaetz actions.
As for Jordan backing McCarthy, I don’t hold that against him. Had he joined with the 8, he would never be able to garner the support of McCarthy moderates needed in order to get him across the threshold to Speaker.
Just food for thought, what if Trump, Jordan and the 8, worked in unison to overthrow McCarthy?
It’s possible, and if so, applaudable!!!
“Our strength as a Conference comes from our unity, and we have seen when we unite as a Conference, we can deliver wins for the American people.”

Can anyone list those wins we have supposedly seen?
It’s all politics.
so...the next in line? NOPE! What’s the point, should have kept Kevin if you’re just going to follow the pecking order. Shake it up!
IMO, except for the 8 who voted to give Kev the boot, pretty much anyone who throws their hat in the ring for the job will be a McCarthy supporter, including Jim Jordan. :-(

I heard that McCarthy talked to Trump the night before.
I would have loved to hear that conversations.
Anyone running would need to talk to Trump, and that’s exactly right.
Trump has had it with RINO speakers who won’t support him. Like the worst of all Paul RINO Ryan.
I just would like a budget, the release of the recordings of what happened on January sixth, the border guarded and an actual investigation of the FBI.
I have other things I would like but I will settle for those four items. The first two are totally in their power to do. If they can deliver none then why should I vote for any of them?
Do you have a link?
“Can anyone list those wins we have supposedly seen?”
Go back to 1990 you won’t find anything. Just and endless list of L’s.
