Republican presidential hopeful Vivek Ramaswamy swiped at former President Donald Trump on Thursday for failing to repeal and replace the health care overhaul championed by his predecessor, former President Barack Obama.
“I am never somebody who will make a false promise,” Ramaswamy said at an event in a suburb of Columbus, Ohio. “My friend Donald Trump promised us: repeal and replace Obamacare. Eight years later, did it happen? No, it did not. It is a false promise if it is contingent on Congress.” *** It was a rare dig at Trump by Ramaswamy, a 38-year-old businessman who is a fierce defender of the former president even while running against him for the 2024 Republican nomination. Ramaswamy has referred to Trump as the best president of the 21st century and at times has drawn criticism from other campaigns for his praise of Trump. Ramaswamy hit Trump on Obamacare when asked about tax policy. He said many presidents make mistakes by focusing on legislative matters first.
At the first GOP debate, which Trump skipped, Ramaswamy vowed to pardon the former president if given the chance and called him “the best president of the 21st century.” In an interview with ABC “This Week" earlier this month, Ramaswamy said he didn't believe Trump had done anything illegal in response to questions about the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection and the classified documents found at his Florida home.
The Trump campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The GOP came in unarmed. If you remember President Trump was horrified b!tch mcconnell and the rest of the GOPe had nothing to offer in lieu of obummercare
Exactly!
Everyone who was just barely paying attention knows that McCain was the traitor who killed the repeal.
Why is Vivek griping at Trump? Trump was begging for it to pass so he could sign it.
Vivek is a living, breathing lie. He knows he’s not an Art. II, §1, cl. 5 natural-born citizen.
When Trump was elected the republicans had more political power than at any point in decades and they still couldn’t get most of Trump’s policies passed. McCainites did everything in their power to stop Trump’s very popular policies and people wonder why Dems managed to claw back control
McCain did kill it. I predict that PDJT will not attack Vivek.
The House voted to repeal it like a hundred times when obama was still president. Bunch of Grandstanding liars. Then in comes Trump and crickets, and Mcstain.
Viek is the nasty one, who thinks he should be President of a Biblical Country, when he should not be.
Yeah.
I was never any Bob Dylan fan but in the last ten years or so I’ve come to respect him a fair amount.
I’m not the biggest Trump supporter but Vivek is way off on this. Trump kept his end of the bargain. McCain and the other RINOs that flip-flopped are to blame.
This ass-clown thinks that all the President has to do is wave his Hindu Sengol and all of Washington bows down and does what he wants.
Not ready for prime time.
Maybe start by running for Congress or State Senate.
McCain killed it dumbsh*t
“Trump will be calling Vivek “nasty” in 3,2,1…”
I hope he does. IT was a below the belt shot. Everyone who is on FR and who truly follows the politics knows that John McCain by one vote at the last minute pulled the plug on getting rid of Obamacare in a major betrayal of his party, Trump and the American people. Go back in the anti-Trump hole you crawled out of.
Collins and Murkowski actually killed it....before McCain’s vote.
They can’t completely make O Care gone in a day. It’s too much in every part of the system.
The first big step would be to allow competition and the elimination of gold standard care in every policy.
It was a thumbs down I thought 👎
uh, no Vivek, it’ wasn’t in Trump’s ability as president to do that, except maybe by EO.
Healthcare is supposed to be handled by each state, not federal govt.
I think if anything at this point it would be congress to repeal it, not the president.
Swami thinks the President has dictatorial powers.
What Ramaswamy is saying is that promising to do things you can’t accomplish are false promises even if it is oppostion that keeps you from accomplishing them.
Ramaswamy makes promises that he doesn’t need help from Congress to fulfill, but I think Ramaswamy is too wet behind the ears to know that even with some of the promises doesn’t need Congress do, he would never be allowed to fulfill them. The underestimates the power of the deep state. This wouldn’t be business subordinates he’d be dealing with.
Well, if my memory is correct, and I haven’t much faith it is anymore. 🙂 I believe they promised to replace it with better plan. But I definitely remembering them them promising to repeal Obamacare for sure.
