Former President Donald Trump has drawn outrage from pro-life conservatives after he panned a six-week abortion ban championed by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis as “terrible.”
“I think what he did is a terrible thing and a terrible mistake,” Trump, 77, told NBC’s “Meet the Press” when asked about the policy in an interview that aired Sunday.
The 45th president’s remarks triggered backlash among anti-abortion activists, including from groups like Live Action and Students for Life,***
“Pathetic and shameful. Trump is actively attacking the very pro-life laws made possible by Roe’s overturning,” Lila Rose of Live Action said on X, formerly known as Twitter. “Heartbeat Laws have saved thousands of babies. But Trump wants to compromise on babies’ lives so pro-abort Dems ‘like him.’ Trump should not be the GOP nominee.
***
The Susan B. Anthony List, which has pushed candidates to call for a national abortion ban — and criticized candidates like DeSantis who have declined to do so — initially had a tame response to Trump.
“We’re at a moment where we need a human rights advocate, someone who is dedicated to saving the lives of children and serving mothers in need. Every single candidate should be clear on how they plan to do that,” Marjorie Dannenfelser, SBA president, said in a statement.
“Anything later than a 15 week protection for babies in the womb (when science proves they can feel pain) as a national minimum standard makes no sense.”
We've already seen the disastrous results of Donald Trump compromising with Democrats: over $7 trillion in new debt, an unfinished border wall, and the jailbreak First Step Act letting violent criminals back on to the streets.

“Republicans across the country know that Ron DeSantis will never back down.”

You’re trying to spin your way out of this by trying to trail us off into a secondary argument. You said this:
“I wonder if years from now a white woman being raped by a black or latino man and about to be killed by him will be thinking in her last few seconds of life “boy I sure am glad those republicans years ago campaigned on how we need to save minority babies and they stopped this fine fellow from being aborted”
If you were about to be murdered, would you wish your murderer did not exist? Or is self defense no longer allowed?
I am aware of videos, but I know most blacks are not violent that way. Yes I do I know of their unfortunate voting preferences. Yet your statement makes you just as racist as the black racists are, what’s worse you are using old nasty racial stereotypes about black and hispanic males and white women to try to rile what you think are the hidden racist “bubbas” here at FR!
Take your “shuck and jive” back to Stormfront” where it belongs! We won’t heal racial divides by being tribalized by the Uniparty globalists. They are the ones that are doing the bear baiting between people! Don’t fall for their shtick!
Sounds like it’s a law that legalizes murder for the first 6 weeks of life. Tomato, Tomatoe.

No, it sounds like a law that is costing Republicans and conservatives votes.
And THAT is what pisses you off. Trump and you Angry Trumpers would rather sacrifice a few babies if it means winning on election day.
Actually none of them ever made such a promise.
Plus, have you ever heard of Alito and Thomas? Would row have been overturned had they not been there? No. Dukakis and Kerry would not have appointed either of them, and Roe would not have been overturned.
Komrade Kazan, your comments are just the latest 100% fact-free propaganda you foist upon us on a routine basis.
Something like, maybe, a six-week abortion ban? Something like that?
I think I’ve made it clear I’m not falling for it.

Go talk to the white farmers in south africa and tell them how black people are mostly peaceful and how they are racist for defending themselves against black brutality

Big Freakin Toad. Now Rattlesnake Snook.
Retreads are even clever enough to change up their FR names.
Oh nice. Now you’re taking your racism to South Africa.
Yeah naw I only post with this name, but I guess you just can’t stand the fact that there are actually people who disagree with you, and not just one but shockingly more than one person who disagrees with you!
Your attempt to spin your way out of your previous remarks is pathetic.
“The subject, once again, is how and why Trump has taken a personal stand against Florida.”
Perhaps trump has a personality disorder…
Well I guess you better tell users Red Badger and Perseverando and Jan_Sobieski that they are racist for posting actual news stories
“Your attempt to spin your way out of your previous remarks is pathetic.”
So what remark did I post that was factually incorrect that you can disprove using objective data?
Trump is right. If abortion is a major plank on the next platform, we will lose; Dems will pack the court; Abortion on demand up to and including birth will become the law of the land. Sometimes you take the small victories and move on with the stuff you can win.
Graham and those who want to make sure that the left is in power are making an issue over abortion. That is fact that cannot be ignored. Abortion absolutists and anti-abortionists are indeed forcing President Trump to “go there”, and he's well aware that pushing draconian abortion limitations will not be a winning subject for Republicans, just like the midterms.
Whether you care to like it or not, the majority of women in this country have been conditioned to believe that aborting their children is a right they have. It will take generations to get rid of that mentality. It may be wrong, but that doesn't matter to young women who still believe it's a viable alternative to raising a family.
Negotiating terms is not a bad thing. Look at it from the left's point of view. They negotiated and got their way, then waited patiently while their indoctrination became ingrained in our society, and in the end, they got what they wanted all along.
Incrementalism. It's a tactic that should be used to great effect if you have the patience.
Let’s leave it to the states to vote on.
Sure. Just as soon as you tell them how a newbie like yourself knows just what they post.
I’ll ask you again. What screen name did you use before? Big Freakin Toad? And what others?
