Ties Between Joe Biden and Merrick Garland Deteriorate From Distant to Frigid
WSJ ^ | Aruna Viswanatha & Sadie Gurman

Posted on 09/16/2023 5:55:46 PM PDT by NautiNurse

The already frosty relationship between President Biden and his attorney general, Merrick Garland, is now in a deep freeze.

Respect and admiration among White House aides for Garland, a longtime federal appeals-court judge chosen to underscore the independence of the Justice Department, has shifted for some into resignation and distrust.

[Snip]

Some Biden aides have said they see Garland’s handling of the inquiries into the Biden family as driven less by a dispassionate pursuit of justice than by a punctilious desire to give the appearance that sensitive investigations are walled off from political pressure, people familiar with the matter say.

[Snip]

The attorney general’s allies say those appointments aren’t him bending to pressure, but rather insulating the probes that touch on Biden—Garland’s boss and the man who appointed him.

[Snip]

Adding to the fraught relationship between the Justice Department and the White House, special counsel Robert Hur has been negotiating with President Biden’s lawyers for weeks over the contours of an interview with the president...

[Snip]

Allies of both Garland and Biden compare their relationship to the tense one between President Clinton and Janet Reno, his attorney general for eight years. Clinton was frustrated that Reno allowed an investigation into the failed Whitewater land deal to expand to a wide-ranging probe...

[Snip]

When Garland attended a reception in the East Room at the White House last month, President Biden said to him: “Attorney General Garland—I haven’t seen you in a long while. It’s good to see you.”

The crowd laughed, and Biden added: “You think I’m kidding. I’m not.”

The WSJ has moved so far left over the past few years that it is sad what has happened to that news outlet. They are very selective as to which articles allows comments. And the moderators will disallow any comment that criticizes any democrat too harshly. Call Trump all the names you wish, and accuse him of all types of crimes, but do not use the word “dementia” when speaking of Joe Biden because that will violate their “community rules” or some such drivel. Such a comment will not be allowed or posted. Comments many times will just be held for “review” so you can edit your comment while trying to figure out which word set off the censors. However, most of the times it is a losing battle and your comment is just “not allowed” without any opportunity to edit.

So, it makes a reader wonder how honest their financial reporting can be if their national news is so far slanted to the left as to be obviously dishonest in its reporting. The nation’s premier financial news site for decades is losing subscribers and they have no idea why.

The Wall Street Journal sold out to Rupert Murdoch years ago. Like Fox News it is subject to the desires and opinions of the Murdoch family. There is no independent objective journalism in today’s America.

Yep. And the leftists there think that Murdoch is a Trump supporter and THAT is why the conservative opinion pieces are allowed. I expect once the current conservatives writers retire or go their merry way, the opinion writers’ articles will be far more acceptable to the left.

RE: a punctilious desire

Or a case of being pusillanimous?
Or a case of perspicacity?

pu·sil·lan·i·mous

showing a lack of courage or determination; timid.

per·spi·cac·i·ty
the quality of having a ready insight into things; shrewdness.

I was inspired by the great Sprio Agnew:
“....a politician relentlessly on the attack. He railed against “nattering nabobs of negativism,” and “pusillanimous pussyfooters.”

That there is some world class WSJ propaganda from the secret intelligence militarized spy agencies under Garland’s control.

“and Biden added: “You think I’m kidding. I’m not.”

There’s the tell. Whenever Traitor Joe adds that it means it’s a flat out lie.

Lol. I was stunned so of course I did a search and what he said is an over the top huge lie. He’s seen with him hundreds of time. Pictures always provide the truth. I don’t know why trump would lie about something so easy to search. Poor trump.

Garland transitioned to Mary Garland, a vindictive 12-year old girl who’s weaponized her tantrum at not being on SCOTUS.

Mary will not rest until everyone who she blames for her non-coronation feels her pain or worse.

Anyone who ever sees Garland in person, rather than protest, should shake her hand, look into her cold, dark eyes (black eyes…like a dolls eyes), smile, and say “you STILL aren’t on the Supreme Court….HAHAHAHAHA!”

Or maybe the security state has decided it’s time for Joe to go. That would frost relations a bit too.

When Rupert handed the reins to his sons (and their leftist wives), the WSJ took a decidedly liberal turn for the worse. The financial reporting is certainly suspect. Coinciding with the abysmal quality of reporting, the WSJ cut their subscription price 80%.
