CNN Poll: Several Republican Presidential Candidates Lead Joe Biden in Head-to-Head Matchup
Breitbart ^ | September 7, 2023 | Hannah Bleu

Former President Donald Trump, as well as South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott, former Vice President Mike Pence, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, and former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie are leading President Joe Biden in a head-to-head matchup, the latest CNN poll found.

The survey asked respondents who they would choose in a series of hypothetical head-to-head matchups, all including Biden and various GOP candidates.

Trump, the clear leader in the Republican primary race, leads Biden in a head-to-head matchup by one percent, or 47 percent to 46 percent. Notably, Trump’s lead is within the ± 3.6 percent margin of error.

However, the former president is far from the only Republican candidate besting Biden. In fact, the survey found some of Trump’s challengers performing even better than him against Biden.

Haley, for instance, leads Biden 49 percent to 43 percent — a lead well outside of the margin of error.

Biden trails both Pence and Scott by two points, as both see 46 percent to Biden’s 44 percent.

Christie leads Biden by two points, 44 percent to Biden’s 42 percent, and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is tied with Biden at 47 percent support.

While the survey shows Biden edging out anti-woke businessman Vivek Ramaswamy by one point — 46 percent to 45 percent — that is still a virtual tie, well within the survey’s margin of error.

Au contraire.

What it means is that the rest of the Republican field is Deep State.

And as long as a Deep Stater wins, Deep State will get what it wants.

XiNN just made it clear.

Within the republican party, they may very well be pulling 2% on their own, but when put up against Biden, that’s a whole different question. Not many Republicans or independence would pick Biden over a Republican, any Republican. which is the point, Trump has no unique standing against Biden. We don’t need Trump with his baggage, behavior, and bad hiring choices.

Yep, and did you say that when polls were posted saying Trump had impossible leads? Or what did you say when Trump whined about poll results?

Polls, schmolls. That means all of them. But you might need to brush up on logic.

Once Trump is out of the race, then they can move on to the caucuses and primaries.

Folks, we have a FReeper who fantasizes about Trump being in prison!

especially ridiculous is the notion that one-time SC gov, haley, and SC senator scott, whom most americans have never heard of...

Name recognition is not a valid reason to dismiss candidates in the early stages of a campaign. For example, October 3, 1991 was the day obscure Arkansas Governor William Jefferson Clinton announced his candidacy for POTUS.

I voted for Trump twice, enthusiastically the second time, so by your logic I would hate myself.

We’re facing the weakest incumbent perhaps ever since Biden is barely even alive, and Trump is arguably the weakest candidate that we can run against Biden. He could very well lose to Biden. That’s what the left is banking on, and why they timed all of these trials as they did. Rally the base to his nomination but weaken him for the general. They meddle in all of our primaries, and their plan usually works.

It may well be that Biden manages to lose a squeaker to Trump, but that matchup is their best play at this point. Trump’s going to be facing a slew of court appearances and legal fees that will be draining his account and taking him off the campaign trail. It’s not fair, but this is war in all’s fair and love and war.

Trump was president and left the DOJ weapon on the table. If he had cleaned it up and done a proper investigation into Biden’s bribery schemes, that might have altered the outcome of the election. Even if he gave himself a blanket pardon on the way out the door like Ford did to Nixon, his legal circumstances would be much improved over what they are now

You can threaten to not vote for a candidate other than Trump. That’s fine. However, most Trump supporters would vote for another candidate if that was their choice vs Biden. The problem, as we’ve seen, is that Trump turns out more voters against him than he does for him. Democrats learned this lesson with Crooked Hillary. You don’t see her mentioned as a possible replacement candidate, do you? Democrats never rerun their losers for a reason.

If CNN is pushing this, it’s a sure sign that they’re working to give President Addle-Pate the heave-ho.

“...and Trump is arguably the weakest candidate that we can run against Biden.”

Perhaps so, but without the support of Trump voters, the other candidates will get their asses wiped.

They should have considered such before being Lapdogs for the Trump Haters.

Let’s look at the internals of this poll.

Demographics:

Analysis: This is an even-weighted poll. The results will be interesting.

Analysis: Voters blame Biden for worsening the economy.

Q: Do you think Joe Biden has the stamina and sharpness to serve effectively as president?

Analysis: Biden is slightly more favored (+5%) than Trump by Independent voters.

Q: How motivated, if at all, would you say you are to vote in next year's election for president? (Registered Voters)

ResponseAllDemRepInd
Extremely/Very82%81%89%74%
Somewhat12%14%8%11%
Not too/Not at all6%5%2%5%

Analysis: As of now, Republicans are winning the “enthusiasm gap” (+7%) over Democrats.

Q: If the presidential election were being held today and you had to choose between Joe Biden as the Democratic Party's candidate, and Donald Trump as the Republican Party's candidate, would you lean more towards Joe Biden or Donald Trump? (Registered Voters)

ResponseAllDemRepInd
Joe Biden/Very46%87%6%47%
Donald Trump47%9%90%38%
Other5%2%3%9%

Analysis: As of now, Independents are tilting towards Biden. Interestingly, given that Republicans and Democrats are equally weighted in this poll, Trump is getting a +3% cross-over vote from Democrats that is putting him +1% overall over Biden.

Q: Other Republican primary candidates matched against Joe Biden for President? (Registered Voters)

ResponseAllDemRepInd
Joe Biden43%84%5%40%
Nikki Haley49%12%86%45%
Joe Biden44%84%5%44%

Joe Biden42%84%5%39%
Chris Christie44%13%76%43%
Joe Biden47%89%5%48%
Ron DeSantis47%7%89%40%

Analysis: One surprise that stands out is that < b>Democrats really don’t like DeSantis and Ramaswamy, probably for being outspoken on woke social issues. DeSantis is the winner amongst Republicans, with Haley a close second. Independents prefer Haley and Christie.

Q: Thinking about the results of the 2020 presidential election, do you think that Joe Biden legitimately won enough votes to win the presidency, or not?

ResponseAllDemRepInd
Biden legitimately won61%93%28%63%
Biden did not legitimately win38%7%71%37%

Analysis: This suggests that Independents do not feel that Trump was cheated and is “owed” another term.

CONCLUSION

Based on this poll, President Trump is not riding on any tailwinds with Independent voters right now. This might be because voters are still “shopping” around with the other primary candidates. We will have to wait for some to drop out to see how the votes redistribute to the other candidates, including Trump.

Actually, yes.I have. But I have to admit that people like you who minimize the problems in DeSantis’ campaign and think he’s somehow the great white hope of the party tax my.patience. At this point, he has made very little impact during the campaign and doesn’t seem to be catching on with the Republican base. For me, he’s my second choice after Trump.

You said:

“Once Trump is out of the race, then they can move on to the caucuses and primaries.”

How, exactly, can that possibly happen with the primaries yet to happen? Trump is way out in front.

Your dream can only happen with him in jail, or dead.

Which is it?
