Heatwaves, droughts and wildfires struck Asia, Africa, Europe and North America over the last three months, with dramatic impact on economies, ecosystems and human health.
The average global temperature in June, July and August was 16.77 degrees Celsius, smashing the previous 2019 record of 16.48C, the European Union's Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S) said in a report.
"The three months that we've just had are the warmest in approximately 120,000 years, so effectively human history," C3S deputy director Samantha Burgess told AFP.
"Climate breakdown has begun," said UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres.
"Scientists have long warned what our fossil fuel addiction will unleash," he added. "Our climate is imploding faster than we can cope, with extreme weather events hitting every corner of the planet."
The C3S findings came from computer-generated analyses using billions of measurements from satellites, ships, aircraft and weather stations around the world.
Proxy data such as tree rings and ice cores allow scientists to compare modern temperatures with figures before records began in the mid-19th century.

all leading up to the declaration of a climate emergency
So how did we have record snows in the West? 50’ in CA.
Copernicus Climate Change Service, sounds like an objective source.
So it was “historical?” Liberal whackjobs like “historical” except when it’s really historical.
This summer, by far, has been the coolest one in decades. I believe we set records for how cool it’s been.
There’s certainly a breakdown going on ... but it’s not the climate, it’s the climate change cult that is suffering a delusional breakdown.
That volcano in the South Pacific put about a years worth of water vapor into the atmosphere. Water vapor is a green house gas.
This is what is causing the hot weather and the moisture coming out of the atmosphere. Combined with the jet stream changes (La nino/Nina, I am not sure) is why the west coast is wetter than normal.
A good volcanic explosion will mess with the weather for years.
Meanwhile, a milder than usual summer in the state of Georgia. Hasn’t broken 100 all summer. Rainfall is typical, no excess tornadoes or hurricanes. I fail to see the problem beyond that of people raised in the air-conditioned indoors who never had to sweat when they didn’t want to. Try sitting through classes with only open windows and maybe a fan blowing like we did. It isn’t getting warmer. People are getting softer.
Just more History of Now
That year was a real barn-burner as I recall.
Climate kakistocracy.
We are seeing the propaganda buildup to the next COP 28 in December, which I believe will be used as the impetus for Biden, under the aegis of the UN, to declare a “Climate Emergency.”. This will lead to draconian control measures just as the “Covid emergency” did — reducing free choice for the individual in the name of “saving the earth.” The resulting crash of the market will far exceed the predicted “Climate breakdown,” whatever that could possibly mean.
I don’t care how much data you crunch, if your computer model is designed to spit out CO2 generated global warming it is going to spit out Global Warming.
NBC plays along on the weather forecasts, summer high temperatures are shown with woeful captions on the map “10 Million Affected”, heavy rains up North, “25 Million Affected”, etc.
Pathetic that far too many dumbed down Americans will see it, and shake their heads saying something must be done.
Mount Washington broke the record in July 2023 with over 16.91” of rain.
Boy are they WRONG
“Heatwaves, droughts and wildfires struck Asia, Africa, Europe and North America over the last three months...”
June, July, August.

Yeah, right.
