Rep. Nancy Mace says Republicans in swing districts are ‘walking the plank’ because of abortion restrictions

GOP Rep. Nancy Mace has a warning for her party about some efforts to restrict abortion without exceptions – and how it could affect moderate House Republicans on whom their narrow majority depends.

“I think they’re walking the plank,” the South Carolina Republican told CNN’s Dana Bash in an interview that aired Sunday, when asked if members in moderate districts like hers are doomed.

“I’m pro-life. I have a fantastic pro-life voting record, but I also understand that we cannot be a**holes to women,” said Mace, who has been vocal about including exceptions for rape in measures to restrict the procedure.

The two-term congresswoman went public about her own experience of rape during an abortion debate in the South Carolina state house before coming to Congress. “Being the victim of rape, you don’t ever get over it,” she told Bash, noting how the experience has affected her and her outspoken advocacy for exceptions.

Would we really be worse off if they fell off the plank?

Then the Democrats will take control of the House of the Representatives.

She’s right. My problem with her is that she’s just a plain squish. She’ll succeed Linda or Scott down the road.

Unless they are being a**holes to baby girls in the womb.

The only way not to be a**holes to baby girls and baby boys in the womb is to for the GOP to be 100 percent pro-life and protect life with no exceptions.

She should just say thar she's pro-choice.

20 years ago, Donald Trump was pro-choice.

Would we be worse off if we traded people who vote our way most of the time, and instead gave a majority to the Democrats who, even if Trump wins in 2024, would be able to block his confirmations and stifle every bit of legislation?

Yes, indeed we would.

We were making incremental gains on abortion before Roe was overthrown. Then that decision energized women to go vote, and had moderate Republican women vote Dem.

You can ban partial birth abortion.

You will NOT have the votes to ban first trimester abortion, and any attempt to do so will result in massive Republican losses.

Mace is rat mole. She goes on CNN to forward the narrative that the GOP as a whole is pushing a no exception ban on abortion at any point. It’s not true and she knows it will give the rats a sweep in general elections. Mace is Cheney.

John Roberts was right. He was more supportive of incremental progress by the SCOTUS. He didn't want to overhaul Roe vs Wade.

Amen. Be known for taking a stand ... for something. If you can not stand up for the helpless, the innocent, what good are you?

The party has to reinforce the idea that it is NOT in Federal hands...that it's a state call.

And no matter what...abortion is murder...no one can deny that. When will the women who call it a freedom issue wise up.

Kevin McCarthy sucks. But things can get much worse. We're not there yet.

All conservative measure will be lost, everything over abortion. I don’t like it but it is a losing position and it’s only going to get worse. We need to accept it, otherwise we will lose everything.

This is why I trust what a “a Republican” says about as much as I trust what “Dr. Fauci” says.

Rep Mace said:
“This is an issue that (other) Republicans have been largely on the wrong side of”

So opposing the premeditated murder of defenseless and innocent human beings is the “wrong side of an issue”, according to her.

Any of you guys want to defend a barbarian like Rep Mace?
Good luck.

Women should have a choice! The doctors however need watching.

Have we gone back to the days women came last with no choices at all?
That being said, these women will pay for their choices by God in the end.

Civil Rights is a Federal issue and denying a baby the right to birth in a clear violation of that baby’s civil rights.
