HARRISBURG, Pa. - When those rare 3-day weekends pop up on the work schedule, it's an office-wide celebration! Well, what if that was every week?
A new bill to create a four-day work week is about to be introduced in the Pennsylvania legislature.
It would require businesses with more than 500 employees to reduce their work week from 40 to 32 hours a week.
However, less work hours will not mean less pay!

And a three day work week if the majority of workers at a plant are registered Democrats.
If this actually happened. Companies would be fleeing Pennsylvania. It normally takes ten years. But there is no reversing it once it starts. Just ask California.
Commies believe employers are sitting on large piles of money that they are just too selfish to share with their employees and that the purpose of those employers is to launder Democrat campaign funds from those large piles of money through their employee’s paychecks.
The Federal Minimum Wage act is predicated on the Interstate Commerce clause, as is 99% of the federal government’s overreach.
40 hours, 5 days a week is ridiculous for many positions.
What percentage of jobs are just make work jobs for stupid people, women, and minorities?
I’d say pretty high from experience in corporate America.
I’m not saying the proposal is a good idea. Just a society wide comment.
I don’t get the workaholic anger for those who aren’t “committed enough”.
Then it WILL mean fewer jobs.
And Deep State's cool with that.
Four days work for four days pay. People will end up taking second jobs to make up for the 20% pay cut.
Something for nothing, a typical democrat pipe dream.
“The Philadelphia lawmaker says the 40-hour work week was put into place 85 years ago, and no longer fits the needs of today’s society.”
I agree. It should be 50 hours. Advertise it as an automatic 25% pay increase. The Philadelphia I-got-mine doesn’t realize 40 was a reduction.
>>The Federal Minimum Wage act is predicated on the Interstate Commerce clause, as is 99% of the federal government’s overreach.
Federal overreach, sure, but upon what would the state of Pennsylvania’s overreach be predicated here?
There are lots and lots of jobs that can be accomplished in way less than 8 hr day/40 hr week. Lots of these will be eliminated, as they should be.
Sitting around doing nothing for most of an 8 hr day is so last century BoomerCon, and just what Goobernmint Unions are all about.
Actual productive work has changed. Forever.
Knowledge Teams can work from anywhere at anytime.
Screw the Commute, the Office, and the 8 hr day-
When work needs to be done, it NEEDS to be done.
18 hours days are not uncommon - so too is taking 2 weeks off after closing a big project. It’s a different world.
Talk about this with your Accountant during Tax Season, if they can give you the time.
Talk with your local Landscapers during Spring cleanup and planting season. If they have the time to talk to you.
Hourly Production & Manufacturing in a physical plant is a very, very different thing.
Unreal.
There are voluntary 4 ten hour day work weeks all over. Which I prefer. But to have the state force companies to pay the same for less work is just stupid. But let another blue state s hole commit economic suicide.
RATs pandering again. They know it won’t pass. But they can virtue signal and whip up the proles.
This is what you get when the cuck PA republitard legislature ate Dem excrement when it came to redrawing legislative maps, state and federal.
R’s cried like little babies and could hardly do a darn thing.
They then sat on their hands further, and allowed the lib PA Supreme Court to redraw the lines, something they have no authority over, and AMAZING, quess what? PA now has a DemocRATic Pa House legislature!! Right on time for a lib PA Governorm, and a thin Republitard Senate.
Us folks from PA are sick of the Filthedelphia machine, and a WEAK INAFFECTIVE PA republican party.
I need a few years yet, and I’m outta this state!
I wonder if the PA worker in my White House knows about this ???
He has a zero-day work week...
“OK, everyone is now on a 4 day week but we still expect the work to get done even if it takes you 5 days”
Fewer hours, less pay.
Do they even attempt to teach English to journalism students? If what you do for a living requires you to write coherent English......... oops my mistake, modern journalism does not require the writing to be coherent. Never mind.
How about we just get it over with and pass a bill requiring business owners to pay people not to work? That seems to be the direction the left want to take us
My son, who’s a trucker had a job interview today where he was told there would be lots of spring overtime, 50-60 hours a week average, maybe pushing 80 on occasion.
He was excited about that.
He starts after Labor Day.
