” I have a feeling that a lot of that bad advice comes from his wife”

...and I should listen to your feelings? Do you have a speck of evidence to support what you are saying?

So refreshing to hear someone articulate knowledge of policy, foreign and domestic, after 8 years of “There’s nobody better than me, and if something goes wrong, it’s not my fault”.
I wish they would have shown the video of Trump threatening to lock down all the states, instead of just having DeSantis defend himself from Trump’s lies.

So, you really like him and want him to remain your Governor.

Ron Desantis just told Bret Baier that he didn’t need Trump’s endorsement to win in 2018, even going as far as to say Trump “held him back”

Check out his Trump, MAGA, wall building campaign ad from his original run for governor, narrated by Jill Casey DeSantis - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z1YP_zZJFXs

We wanted him to remain our governor, we are upset with him abandoning us. Now the bandage has been ripped off.
But when you think about it Rick Scott was a great governor too. He paved the way for RDS . And there’s been a conservative legislature helping too.
Most feel like he’s not ready to be president yet. He’s not going to be in friendly territory like when he became governor here. But he’s going to have to eat a lot of humble pie to win back lots of people, my husband for one.
Now if he runs in 2028 it will be interesting to see if they forgive him. I guess time heals and let’s see who else is running then. People right now are steamed over the property insurance mess that’s not being addressed. Plus he invited so many people down here it’s gridlocked and not fun to live here. I’m afraid we will become a future Calif.

That’s the sound of the money that businesses continued to make in Florida while others elsewhere were locked down and going broke.

I think it’s impossible to listen to feelings.

No “speck of evidence” personally. Just the words of people on the inside whose opinions I trust.

From Charlie Kirk:

The newly released New York Times/Siena Poll should confirm what many of us have suspected for months now: The GOP primary is over.

I like Governor DeSantis and have tremendous respect for him as a man and as a governor. I consider him a friend and I believe he's America’s greatest governor. As such I have refused to get in the mud and attack him. He is a great American and I want him to remain a dominant political player for years/decades to come. But his campaign has failed to gain traction.

Now is the time for conservatives to unite and defeat the Democrats and their machine in 2024.

Yes, Trump will be facing 4-5 indictments. But the American people see through them as the political witch hunt that they are. They recognize that the intel agencies and the federal leviathan has been weaponized to eliminate their number 1 threat.

But, our greatest challenge ahead of 2024 is the $ billions that will be spent on ballot harvesting, negative ads, and lawsuits by a well-funded and motivated left. They will outperform polling in key districts because they are investing resources to get out low-propensity voters who otherwise couldn't be bothered. Will the GOP do the same?

We simply cannot afford to waste $1.5 billion on a pointless massacre of a primary. We will not have enough left over to properly invest in ballot chasing in key states—investments that must be made NOW.

We must unite. From Charlie Kirk:

What a pile of steaming BS.

I live in a very red Florida county in a very red community and I have spoken with a lot of people here about the election and DeSantis. No one was surprised he decided to run for President and none are upset he has. Like me they realize that he can help Florida even more as President. Even the snowbirds wish they had a governor like him at home and would welcome him as President.

Maybe if he wins the Presidency and things get more tolerable nationally you’ll get your wish for people to move here less. Or are you upset that DeSantis fought for freedom in Florida?

I too live in a very red, red county and that’s not what I’m hearing. Of course we were surprised because most people thought he would not backstab us. If so many folks are for him, why are his poll numbers so dismal and that’s not steaming bs. He’s barely hanging on. Did you not watch the debate with Crist? He outright deceived us.
Please explain what “fought for freedom in Florida” means. I’m sorry I remember being pressured to get the jab, closed stores, closed hospitals, doctors offices etc. I do remember Florida opening the beaches because of spring break. That was a good move, although it was risky, for the sake of our economy down here.

I will vote for Trump. Every time I read a TDS post saying “There would be no indictments if Trump bla, bla, bla” I wonder if that poster stops completely and waits 10 seconds before proceeding because a cop might give him a ticket if he waits only 2 seconds.

I’m not sure it’s vital now, but it will eventually happen.

Going through a full length primary season is idiotic to my
way of thinking.

Do we have to watch Ron replay the 2016 primary season?

Trump is 77 years old, isn’t he? He’ll be 78. TOO OLD. He’s morbidly obese and has a lousy diet. A prime candidate for a stroke or heart attack. I’ve seen recent pictures of him on the golf course. His face is flushed, he’s sweating profusely, his mouth is hanging open as if it’s hard for him to catch his breath. He easily looks his age. This after merely swatting a golf ball?

Remember he had COVID. Reports at the time indicated his oxygen levels had dropped which was why he was hospitalized. He’s an elderly man who had what apparently was a rather severe case of COVID. A drop in oxygen levels indicate that his lungs were involved. The elderly were particularly hard hit when they were infected with the virus. Long COVID afflicts many who survived. This is no joke. Add the fact that he’s facing massive legal problems that would wipe out most people. And to suggest Trump is some kind of superman, immune to all of this, is not realistic. It’s the belief of cult worshippers, not logical people considering facts.

He’d be a one-term president with few friends in the government. A lot of his accomplishments were the result of executive orders that were easily overturned when Biden took over. How effective can Trump be? He would automatically be a lame duck from day one. He wouldn’t be able to run again and his opponents on both sides of the aisle would take advantage of that. He would have little clout.

I just don’t think he’s the best option and I don’t think his highly unfavorable ratings translate into a win in 2024. We should move on. And it makes no sense to wipe out Trump’s most viable Republican opposition. Trump drops dead and who’s left? Scorched earth policies from Trump supporters endanger everything.

I noticed that some of the TDS posters say they finally realized they are going to vote for Trump after all. Maybe their posts were not getting noticed, so they started posting crazy stuff? Or maybe they are not really going to vote for Trump, but wanted to be liked?
