Rudy Giuliani admits to making ‘false’ statements about Georgia election workers
New York Post ^ | July 26, 2023 | Nicholas McEntyre

Former NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani has admitted that he made “false” statements about two Georgia election officials he accused of rigging the 2020 election.

In an overnight court filing signed by Guiliani, Donald Trump’s former personal lawyer conceded that he does not contest the allegations made in a defamation suit brought by Peach State elections workers Ruby Freeman and her daughter Wandrea “Shay” Moss.

“The Defendant Giuliani, for the purposes of this litigation only, does not contest that … such actionable factual statements are false,” the filing, shared by Politico reporter Kyle Cheney, reads.

However, Guiliani, 79, insisted that his statements “did not carry meaning that is defamatory, per se” and that they are “constitutionally protected statements or opinions.”

The two election workers filed a defamation suit against Giuliani, once “America’s mayor,” and conservative news network One America News Network (OAN) in December 2021, accusing them of spreading false claims they had committed election fraud in the 2020 presidential election.

A heavily edited clip of security footage was widely circulated online and by Trump allies at the time as supposed proof of fraud.

Guiliani accused the mother-daughter duo of passing USB drives “like vials of heroin or cocaine” while they were counting ballots.

Moss later revealed to the House Select Committee investigating the January 6 Capitol riot that her mother handed her a ginger mint.

Georgia’s State Election Board dismissed its yearslong investigation into alleged election fraud in June and officially cleared Freeman and Moss.

The fraud claims were “unsubstantiated and found to have no merit,” the investigation concluded, NBC reported.

Out of curiosity, has anybody explained why Fulton County election officials, restarted ballot counting after claiming the process was stopped for the evening? Or why cases of “ballots” were brought out from underneath tables to be counted after all the watchers were sent home?

Screw this crap about who said what about who. We deserve explanations and accountability for these and all the other nefarious activities that went on during the 2016, 2020 and 2022 elections.

He did not admit lying. You characterized it as lying, so you are lying.

What part of “making actionable factual statements that are false” isn’t lying?

“Actionable” is a key word in that that their falsehood gives rise to a legal action by the aggrieved.

If I accuse you, my next-door neighbor, of stealing my Jeep but it turns out my nephew borrowed it without asking me, that accusation wouldn’t be protected free speech.

Rudy Giuliani has had months and months to substantiate his accusations beyond “something’s fishy.” At the end he is retracting them under penalty of law.

P.S. This doesn’t necessarily implicate or harm President Trump, unless it’s part of deal to “turn” Giuliani.

There's a legal distinction, and a philosophical distinction. Rudy's filing is intended to satisfy the legal question, to put this Deep State Fraud behind him.

To answer your question about accusations of stealing Jeeps, it would be protected speech. We each have our own Truth. If I went on to social media and Truthed my perspective, I'm still allowed to do that in America. It may differ from your perspective or your nephew's, but what's that to me? You still have your Jeep.

I think Rudy will also be making this philosophical argument to safeguard our 1st Amendment Rights. He's one of the last pillars standing up for our Democracy.

That pertinent portions of the security clip weren't edited. You can see them in real-time pulling the suitcases out from under the table and handing them off to be counted and recounted. The time stamp was continuous , nothing was cut.

“The Defendant Giuliani, for the purposes of this litigation only, does not contest that … such actionable factual statements are false,”

Parse this sentence into something a normal person can understand.

I LIED AND I’M CONCEDING IT TO AVOID CHARGES IN THE MATTER BEFORE THE COURT.

Let’s get down to brass tacks, since most of the comments are pointing out questionable actions by election officials:

Why would Rudy Giuliani make the staggering concession that his statements regarding Georgia fraud were false if he could have backed up his accusations in court?

My guess - the two women have agreed to settle in exchange for the written statement and probably their legal fees.

And they were found innocent and given a medal. I figured the judge ruled where they were doing what the supervisor told them. But they never questioned the supervisor. It was just droppped.

“The judicial system is absolutely corrupt.”

Rudy Giuliani was part of that judicial system for half a century, but even I whose only experience of it was serving on two juries would never ever tell a court “I lied about a criminal accusation” unless I had damn well done so.

“There is no court. There was no court”

To whom do you think Rudy Giuliani made that concession? Did he write it in a letter and mail to Santa Claus c/o The North Pole?

The article quotes a court filing.

I notice that once again after you are proven to be a lair, you stop posting to your own thread. I think you know what that makes you.
