A Georgia Lowe’s employee attempted to stop shoplifters making off with $2,100 amount of merchandise, leaving her unemployed and with a black eye.
Donna Hansbrough, 68, saw three people loading up a shopping cart at a store in Rincon, about 30 minutes north of Savannah, and then leave without stopping to pay, police said.
The veteran employee then grabbed onto the cart allegedly being pushed by Takyah Berry — who slugged the older woman in the face three times, according to authorities. Berry, who was with her uncle, Joseph Berry and another man police identified as Jarmar Lawton, then made off with the goods, the Rincon Police Department said in a news release.

I hope that someone who owns a store in that town calls her and offers her a job.
They need to hire the Nuffin clan.
Dindoo Nuffin.
Dinzee Nuffin.
Din’Ere Nuffin.
All spawn of the baby-daddy Goodfer Nuffin.
You are correct sir.
Lowe’s was looking for a reason to fire a 68 years old.
They figure they will save money on healthcare costs.
People are far more valuable than the inventory. She was told that, but disobeyed.
Lowes had previously told their employees to let theft go because nothing in the store was worth injury or death to their people. Injury and death gets fed back into the company via Workman’s Compensation or increased insurance premiums. The employee defied training, getting injured. She is a liability and insubordinate.
Screw Loews.
Don’t pursue shoplifters. Not your stuff, not your problem.
We hired a consistent annual $1,000,000 producing outside sales professional from Lowe’s who was fired for stopping a shoplifter as he was walking into a Lowe’s to conduct a training session for the millworks department. He is also an ordained minister.
You don’t want to get involved but for many of us that runs against our human nature. This is what can happen, https://www.ktvu.com/news/witnesses-say-employee-killed-in-pleasanton-home-depot-shooting-was-trying-to-stop-theft
But you do have to pay more because of it.
“But you do have to pay more because of it.”
Not sure I want to sacrifice my life so that some random dude three states away can save a buck ninety-nine on a miter saw.
Lol, does Amazon? I refuse to shop, as much as possible, at places that pass on the cost of thievery to me.
So why should a retail worker put themselves in jeopardy so the company can simply write off the losses and pay their executives more?
Why should customers pay more so a company can choose to appease criminals?
Thank you for that info. Looks like I will be heading to ACE HARDWARE, then.
Exactly. If corporate leaders were concerned about shoplifters, they would set up and staff the store accordingly. But they didn’t and they don’t. I take cues from them and try not to think about it too much.
Take it up with the corporate elites who profiteered from Covid.
If you are a sales associate at Lowe’s, your job description does include preventing shoplifting, but it does not include pursuing shoplifters, that is the job of loss prevention specialists.
If I’m a retail worker and someone is shoplifting and I interfere, I get fired. If I try to stop them and get assaulted, I get fired. If they attempt to assault me and I knock them unconscious, I get fired. There’s one common outcome in these situations. Some poor retail employee loses a $16 an hour job while the perp walks and the business execs continue to profit. Steal away.
