'Italy no longer has four seasons': Intense heatwave grips the country
SKY News ^ | July 15, 2023 | by Hannah Thomas-Peter

In Italy today, the number of cities on red alert for extreme heat has climbed from 10 to 15.

The warning points to conditions that threaten the whole population, rather than just the vulnerable.

Italy's minister for the environment, climate change and energy security, Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, told me that Italy's geographic position means it must accept and adapt to generally hotter temperatures and more frequent and severe extreme weather.

He said that in recent years there had been an "explosion" of awareness of climate change among the Italian population as the country is increasingly impacted.

"Even if Italy is not the world's main polluter, we still need to do whatever it takes to achieve climate neutrality goals together with the European Union," he said.

They’re really ramping up the warming scare stories. Wonder what they’re planning?

Big Deal; outside on my front porch it is currently 114 degrees fahrenheit (in the shade) and this isn’t even the hot part of the year.

The fair is in full swing at the Hayfork Fairgrounds and the 4-H livestock show was great!

YEAH, it’s hot; it’s called SUMMERTIME!

“that accent has died even on NY”

I have been told that the New York accent is changing as immigrants from South and East Asia and Latin America move in to replace the descendants of Irish, Italian, and East European immigrants who created the original New York accent.

I was in Venice and Rome in December- best time to go. Not many people not terribly cold (but colder in Venice than in Rome). Only downside was return flight to Dulles was cancelled due to winter storm in mid Atlantic states. Had to scramble to shift reservations to three days later. PITA.

Yep, the US born children of Asian, Latin American, and middle eastern immigrants tend to speak social media English without a regional accent, usually after trying to speak Ebonics from age 14-18. 😂

It a saying around these parts because generally we go from crap weather to warm weather in a short period of time.

Most of June this year was really nice San Diego type weather with mid 70’s temps. and low humidity.

Spent 3 weeks in Florence area when my daughter graduated high school. I think it was late June. We rented an air bnb. The owner asked us to use it sparingly as electricity costs, I guess, were exorbitantly expensive. The cost of the place was very reasonable so we barely touched it.

Easily the hottest and most uncomfortable I have ever been was that trip. And I have lived in Phoenix for 20 something years so that's saying something.

Won't touch on the massive quantities of mosquitos and no screens to be had anywhere.
