It used to be good. Now of course global warming and people are horrible are the major topics.

Disney is the opposite of King Midas: anything it touches withers and dies.

I have not subscribed in about 30 years so I missed the turn to the Left. Its a shame. There are a couple magazines that used to be good and educational - National Geographic, Scientific American, Popular Mechanics. I guess in our world today, everything gets infected with Leftism.

They went full on moron by printing a majority of articles around the global warming nonsense. They got real preachy, and folks got turned off. Had they just stuck to showcasing g the wo4lds wonders and different societies, Introducing people to societies around d the world which were Interesting and unique, they likely would, have held o to their base subscribers. I know our family stopped getting the magazine when they became relentlessly and tiresomely political

My dad used to subscribe to National Geographic and Scientific American when I was a kid. I loved reading both, and they helped inspire my interest in science, technology, travel, wildlife.

Neither magazine is worth a damn these days - NatGeo continues to feature some brilliant photography, but you can get equally brilliant photography elsewhere without the endless enviro-cultist indoctrination attempts. And Scientific American is a now a bad joke - there is very little science and a lot of left-wing propaganda.

Circulation peaked in the 1980s. By the mid 90s it was half what it had been. It’s a tough world for magazines in general with competition from the internet for both readers and advertisers, and National Geographic was always an expensive mag to publish.

No, it deserves to go under. It has devolved into a political rag.

You’re right, mark. A publication with a glorious history. Leftism
Destroys everything it touches, and NG went to the dark side long ago. Among many other examples, years ago Smithsonian was fascinating to read. After not subscribing for about 25 years, a couple years ago I got a subscription and it, too, is now just a leftist propaganda sheet. I’d say RIP,
NG, but it’s heart died long ago, so now:
F’em

I don’t know about that. They have shown real agendas. For a good while.

No one is safe from the communist agenda. It is EVERYWHERE - and don’t let those bastards tell you any of them are “oppressed” or even suppressed.

This is one magazine that deserves to continue to be published.

No.

It doesn't.

It went "woke" before that was a thing.

It's not the National Geographic we knew in the 1970s.

It's leftist trash and it deserves to DIE.

Interesting-I used to view Scientific American, National Geographic, AND Popular Mechanics as being educational, but now?

Trashy entertainment with undependable information in them.

That girl (Sharbat Gula) is now 45 years old. Looks more like 65 years old.

The left did the same thing to Reader’s Digest years ago. And before that, the TV Guide. They know what they’re doing. They’re always marching forward. They have sedulously gone after all the organs of culture in their attempt to change America. The only thing they’ve accomplished is for the core culture to go underground and strengthen.
