A Lutheran church in Minnesota recited a “sparkle creed” about the “nonbinary God” and Jesus’ “two dads” during its Sunday service, according to a live stream recording on YouTube.
Edina Community Lutheran Church Pastor Anna Helgen asked the congregation to stand in “body or spirit” to “confess our faith” in the “sparkle creed,” according to the recording. The church went on to chant a statement of faith in the “nonbinary God” and in Jesus Christ, “who had two dads.” (RELATED: Churches Embrace Pride Month With Drag Queen Story Hour, Queer Proms And Gay Concerts)
“I believe in the nonbinary God, whose pronouns are plural. I believe in Jesus Christ, their child, who wore a fabulous tunic, and had two dads and saw everyone as a sibling child of God,” the church recited. “I believe in the rainbow spirit who shatters our image of one white light and refracts it into a rainbow of gorgeous diversity. I believe in the church of everyday saints, as numerous, creative and resilient as patches on the … quilt. Whose feet are grounded in mud and whose eyes gaze at the stars in wonder. I believe in the calling to each of us that love is love is love, so beloved let us love. I believe, glorious God, help my unbelief, Amen.”
Helgen then led a prayer to the God of “expansive and inclusive love” for shrinking honey bee populations and “climate justice,” according to the recording. The church also prayed for the upcoming Pride festival, for “all LGBTQIA+ leaders” and for those who have felt excluded due to their “gender, race, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin or any other human distinction.”
Helgen included a quick shout-out during the prayer to Taylor Swift and prayed that God would help them “shake it off” when life gets difficult, according to the recording.
The church’s website emphasizes its commitment to combating racism and LGBTQ discrimination, and confessed to “land theft” for being located on Native American land.
“We acknowledge that Edina Community Lutheran Church is located on the traditional, ancestral and contemporary lands of the Dakhóta Oyáte*, the Dakota nation,” the church’s homepage reads. “Acknowledging this painful history, we as a congregation confess our complicity in the theft of Native land and acknowledge that we have not yet honored our treaties. We further confess that Christians and Christian churches have benefited from this land theft. We commit to being active advocates for justice for Native People and to truth-telling that leads to healing.”
Helgen did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.
Emboldened Lesbitarian Church in America.
Bear in mind that Creeds are the product of human reasoning and Church Councils.
They are not found in Scripture.
That said, the above prose is neither theological nor doctrinal.
It uses some of the same words and concepts found in Scripture but overall, it is pure genital-centered sophistry.
She looks like an el ed major.
The ELCA left Christianity to become a Political-cult in the 90s. It took me ten long years as the churches I belonged to slowly morphed away.
I moved to the LCMS where I found the foundations strong, but the asshole density about the same.
Now, I worship the Triune God in my heart. I understand why my late Father disliked “organized religion”!
Another tragedy.
Almost ten years ago I attended an ELCA church because the closest LCMS church was 25 miles away. Then I heard “Merry Christmas and Happy Ramadan” from the pulpit. We walked out in that instant. That drive isn’t so bad after all.
May I ask what you mean by “a—— density” being the same?
LOL
I haven’t been to church in a long time. I’m sure pre-scamdemic. We didn’t really have a church last we went, but we’re hoping to join this close one. LCMS. However, truth is LCMS ALSO prostrated for the disgusting BLM riots, though they didn’t spell them out or many particulars, but they still put some screed on their website about justice or some garbage implied libel. So that was the last straw of not being motivated to go to church.
Meanwhile, I never felt committed because they still seemed to enable poor character.
Well, we’re certainly closer than we have ever been before.
during the prayer to Taylor Swift
They were praying to Taylor Swift ????
What I meant by the “density” was the congregational members who put themselves above all the rest and considered themselves “super clergy”.
The character who did this, pushed me to leave the church. I understand that within a year or so, he left in a huff.
The problem with too many churches is that they don’t want sinners.
It’s shocking but it shouldn’t be, unfortunately.
The decline is happening and they’re coming out of the woodwork.
I’m glad there was pushback against BL and others including baseball’s idiocy.
May God forgive them their blasphemy, and plant the true Creed in their hearts!!!!
Don’t look back. You might become a pillar of salt.
Indeed
Need to add verse 32 in there
32 Remember Lot’s wife.
Just when I thought ELCA had reached the absolute rock bottom, somebody finds a bigger shovel.
LCMS isn’t perfect (and won’t claim to be) but this is completely insane.
Be well, Pastor!
I’ve attended about 10 ELCA churches, within the past 25 years. I didn’t hear any of those pastors say anything unbiblical. I think that the majority of ELCA pastors, who were ordained before 2010, preach according to the Bible. The majority of ELCA pastors, who were ordained since then, ignore the Bible. I know someone who attended LSTC 2008-’12. She has professors who said the resurrection didn’t happen, the Devil doesn’t exist, and Jesus might have both sets of sex organs. That pastor is rostered by different Lutheran groups.
