Trump admitted on tape he didn’t declassify ‘secret’ military plan: report

Former President Donald Trump was recorded in 2021 acknowledging that he had kept “secret” military documents from his time in office without first declassifying them.

The recording of the 76-year-old’s admission has been obtained by federal prosecutors, who secured an indictment of Trump on charges including willful retention of national defense information after retrieving thousands of documents from his Mar-a-Lago resort.

“As president, I could have declassified, but now I can’t,” Trump, 76, said about a classified Pentagon paper outlining a potential military strike on Iran, according to a transcript of the meeting reported by CNN.

“Secret. This is secret information. Look, look at this,” the 45th president also said. “This was done by the military and given to me.”

Whatever the merits of this indictment itself, this will not sit well for most folks when the senile moron in office is known to have boxes and boxes of classified documents in possession in all sorts of unsecured places. And the timing sure is suspicious with the House bringing the heat on the Biden family payoffs.

There are no merits to this case, just like there were no merits to all the other attempts to knock President Trump out of the 2024 race.

Correct me if I am wrong, but the Archive folks were informed of the documents, did remove some of them, but left some, with instructions to secure them better, which Trump did do, until the Archive folks could retrieve the last of the document. As I understand, Trump did not illegally retain documents, and the Nation Archive was aware of these “left behind” documents.

So now Trump says he didn’t declassify some of the documents. It shouldn’t matter, because the National Archive was fully aware of the documents, and was going to arrange moving them.

I’m sure Trump “didn’t declassify” many documents that were moved by the National Archive personnel previously.

This is a very poorly planned setup. Once the details and order of events are layer out, there will be nothing. …but until then, twist the facts…
