Former President Donald Trump was recorded in 2021 acknowledging that he had kept “secret” military documents from his time in office without first declassifying them.
The recording of the 76-year-old’s admission has been obtained by federal prosecutors, who secured an indictment of Trump on charges including willful retention of national defense information after retrieving thousands of documents from his Mar-a-Lago resort.
“As president, I could have declassified, but now I can’t,” Trump, 76, said about a classified Pentagon paper outlining a potential military strike on Iran, according to a transcript of the meeting reported by CNN.
“Secret. This is secret information. Look, look at this,” the 45th president also said. “This was done by the military and given to me.”

Donald Trump has the WORST lawyers in the world. Prior to the raid, why didn’t Trump’s lawyers respond to the National Archives request with a flat NO?
the declassification issue could have and should have been resolved over a year ago.
Context is important here if the recording is legitimate. Trump saying he has “secret” information may mean different things. Is he speaking about a classified document labeled as “Secret” or is he speaking about a document that only a few folks know about.
“willful retention of national defense information”
Yes he was going to take them our of a padlocked room secured by the Secret Service and give it to our enemies. right
After all the crap they threw at cretins like Bush and Romney, you’d think people would figure out the program by now. All they’re doing is progressively ratcheting up as the years go by in order to use the full gamut of fascist tactics.
There are two candidates caught with documents; they are going after just one.
He’s always been his worst enemy, but that goes for anyone whenever they let their ego do the talking.
**Seems JR doesn’t want main stream news stories critical of Trump.**
And I don’t either... everything you can find anywhere is subject to not being true.. and Trump has had enough of the attacks.. we don’t need to add to them
He can just pardon himself out of prison (if it’s federal).
It doesn’t make sense to live in a bubble. FR at its finest was a place where people discussed at lengths MSM attacks of “our” candidates so we could better evaluate and-hopefully- debunk them.
“Only that Hitlery probably had thousands of classified on her computer.”
But they weren’t very important or sensitive, you see. Also, they were from like 2 years ago, man...(probably used that excuse, too)
Amen and amen!!
I hope this latest scheme against Trump fails, I really do.
They seem to be having fits! 😂
Trump is his own worst enemy?
That's pure TDS.
I think most rational people, whether they like Trump or not would say that Trump's worst enemy is the corrupt establishment administrative state who wants to stop the only politician who is willing to risk his liberty, to stop the destruction of this country.
You sound like Mitt Romney. He said something similar to what you said.
>>he is very bad at picking the people to work with him,
He uses “The Apprentice” approach. He finds people with colorful, somewhat oddball capabilities, throws them in over their heads, and fires the worst performers.
It doesn’t work for a President.
Still trolling after all these years
“Secret. This is secret information. Look, look at this,” the 45th president also said. “This was done by the military and given to me.”
These quotes are ambiguous, they do not say the document was classified the entire time it was in his possession. He could have declassified it immediately after this conversation. Or... the statement "...this was done by the military..." could mean the military declassified it, then gave it to Trump. It all depends on what the meaning of is is. (to quote a precedent)
He couldn’t have declassified the document after the conversation, because he was no longer president. That’s why he said he couldn’t. I agree that the remainder of what we have seen is ambiguous. It doesn’t specify what document was being referred to, nor does it prove he actually showed anyone the document. That would require testimony from witnesses present at the meeting. Anyone want to bet against them having someone from the meeting testify to those things? Remember, Mark Meadows’ attorney refused to answer when asked if Meadows received immunity for his testimony.
