Chris Licht is out after a year as chief executive at CNN, following a series of missteps and plunging ratings.
David Zaslav, the CEO of CNN parent company Warner Bros. Discovery, announced the leadership change on CNN’s morning editorial call on Wednesday.
Zaslav appointed a four-person leadership team to lead the network in the interim.

I never cared for CNN anyways.
That was quick! CNN is now the Bud Light of cable news networks. CNN used to rule cable news. There used to be two CNNs. One was CNN headline news (iirc) and then regular CNN.
CNN used to be on in all the airports by contracts.
The Murdoch family will sell Fox New after the 2024 election. Old man Murdoch will be gone soon, and all his children want to be able to cash out for the multi-billion dollar inheritances. All in tax free trusts by now, probably.
That certainly seems to be the case. Maybe put Whoopi in charge. That might just finish it off.
One thing for sure, he’ll be replaced by someone who won’t make any real difference, meet the new boss same as the old boss.
He’s probably using a committee as a scapegoat for complaints that are sure to arise.
I really appreciated the difficult steps he was trying to make. I actually had noticed a difference in the balance of their coverage. Now they will snap back to probably going left of MSNBC.
Scalps? Mark my words they will all be rehired. Nobody in the rat world where power and greed reside are ever thrown in the trash heap. Look at what’s her name Beetlejuice one of the worst mayors in history of that city was given a teaching position at Harvard. They know how to take care of their own, but over on our side of the fence we have the nasty habit of stepping on, destroying, chewing and spitting out our own people.
“He needed to have cleaned house at the beginning.”
You are 100% correct. I’ve seen new leaders walk in the door, take charge and clean house within 30 days. The organization that emerges is leaner and committed to the new program.
I’ve also lived through the long, drawn out agony Friday firings spread out over many months. In those cases the organization freezes. People fear for loss of their jobs and fear making recommendations or taking any risk. Decision making stalls and people focus on survival, not the welfare of the company.
CNN’s ratings are in last place after having invented and led the 24/7 cable news business for decades. Time Warner needs to find a strong visionary leader and empower that leader to totally reshape the network from content to people. With Fox moving left the “center right” positioning is wide open. There is also a strong consumer demand for straight objective news reporting, something which currently doesn’t exist in the 24/7 news channels.
Perhaps Licht wasn’t truly empowered by Time Warner so he took the cautious approach. Perhaps Time Warner executives want the network to remain progressive. If so, anyone taking the job is likely doomed.
One thing that is for certain. A committee cannot manage either a turnaround, or the stewardship of an organization facing a crisis. Clear lines of decision making and full accountability must be in place to manage an effective turnaround.

Fair and balanced reporting and news would be a step in the right direction. Unfortunately, crap runs downhill. When you have anti-Christians owning and running a news outlet, your news and editorials will reflect the spirit/heart/mind of the owners & CEOs. That's precisely why the programming and news in legacy networks and legacy cable news are rabidly anti-Christian. I.e., this is why we see these outlets deify, support and defend godless democrats and at the same time demonize Christians and conservatives.
It seems like the Left’s propaganda machine is losing its grip.
If that happens, the question is - will people return to sanity like in the Wizard of Oz, when the WWW melts - or just become mindless zombies with no one to direct their thoughts?
I assume the latter.
Very well said. Thank you

Licht should have done what Elon Musk did with Twitter. Go scorched earth. But then again, Licht didn’t own CNN. CNN is still owned by the left. He was in a no-win situation.
Even Democrats often get sick of non-stop Trump hatred.
Major Shakeup?
More like a butterfly fart heard round the world.

I like the SmartNews app that I have on my Android phones. Unfortunately, their headlines are often too short.
I removed the Epoch Times app because it offered a subscription on every click instead of content.
Maybe they could hire a superstar known to draw large ratings, like Chris Wallace? Hahaha.
If this guy has only been there a year, he certainly is not the problem. They have been in the toilet for far longer than that.
They apparently like being in the toilet.................
Agree. Also, he should have fired Anderson Cooper immediately after he went on air trashing the choice of Trump’s town hall. We know why he kept Lemon, but he at least finally let him go. I have no ill will of Licht - I was happy he wanted to revamp the network. He just didn’t have the knowledge or experience for the task.
