Bud Light needs to come up with a cogent strategy to win back customers in the next few months, a former executive warned, or its market share losses could become permanent.
Come September, retailers are expected to begin reallocating the limited shelf space by relying on sales data from the preceding months.
In Bud Light’s case, that could mean a diminished presence going forward following the controversy over its brief partnership with a transgender influencer, according to Anson Frericks.
A president of sales and distribution at Budweiser’s U.S. parent Anheuser-Busch until his departure in April 2022, he told the Daily Mail that rivals like Coors Lite and Yuengling could then remain a more prominent fixture in stores following this "reset."
“Those brands will have a better likelihood to succeed long term because they have more shelf space, they have more inventory, they have more back-stock, and they have more availability for consumers," he said.
The warning by Frericks, who cofounded his own asset management firm after more than a decade at the mega-brewer, comes after data suggesting that Mexican beer Modelo Especial could supplant Bud Light this year as America’s favorite frothy brew.

“Every beer, like every civilization, will eventually fade away. Schlitz, Falstaff, Strohs, Schaefer, Black Label, etc.
Even the venerable Budweiser will someday be a memory.”
They get too big, swallow up the other brands, then start funding weird crap.
Yahoo trying to put a good face on it. The retailers can reallocate shelf space anytime they want
Even then, I think it will be tough. Few brands can turn around a public relations disaster like this. Coke did it after their New Coke debacle, but they moved very quick by bringing back the old Coke.
InBev needs to be financially destroyed.Next company will learn to stay out of cultural issues if they want to financially survive.
They could also can the obsequious pandering commercials about horses and Harleys. If they did what you suggest, then in time they could build a new customer base from scratch, like any other beer brand. But alas the pervert lobby won’t let them do that, and won’t let us forget.
That’s a lot of beer to not drink............................
He thinks he is some kind of business man. You were correct about distributors distributing other products. Beer consumption is not declining because of Bud Light. Bud and Bud Light are homogeneous products that are fungible. Rooster lacks a grasp of basic economics and common decency. Why would anyone want to buy a brand associated with gender deniers and groomers when there are hundreds of other brands that can be purchased or better yet, made? Bud Light is permanently tainted. It belongs on the trash heap of history in testament to bad business decisions. It’s the stuff Harvard Business Review case studies are made. (Although, I’m not sure they read the same as 40+ years ago when I was in B-school.)
Too late. That swill is NOT allowed on my property. Ever!
In other words, just order a Sam Adams.
You are correct but they are so afraid of the LBGT mob they will do none of those things. They didn’t even have the stones to fire the woman who cost them billions. She’s still on a paid vacation living in her 8 million dollar apartment in NY.
LOL....they need to “double-down” and market it to the LBGTQPEDOGROOMERS.
Market it as the world’s best “tranny fluid”...guaranteed to shrink the biggest of the Big Johnsons to nothing but a small, little nub in no time flat.
Drink our new tranny fluid beer and be come a real tranny.....
I get that. Understand that I think the brand is permanently tainted. Any business looking to acquire a brand seriously needs to consider all options. I can only imagine that only yet another woke business would choose to buy a tainted brand. There are hundreds of other beer brands that can be potentially purchased given the right money or a new brand can been made. The consumer has spoken. The brand isn’t worth what it once was. If someone purchases the brand at a discount they will have to spend loads of money and time to resurrect it. In my estimation, the risk isn’t worth it compared to other options. I would never want the yoke of gender denial and grooming associated with a brand I owned.
And you may be correct.
My point is, let the market decide.
That’s why InBev thought they could insult us. Lots of people in other countries don’t want to give assent to the woke garbage. If this goes worldwide among all brands and countries where InBev works, it could break apart the company.
seen a Bud light guy the other day, he didn’t look happy in his bud light work shirt.
Agreed.
Let them be a sacrificial lamb for ESG and DEI. Destroy those ideas with malice.
Refuse to deal with a company who acquiesces to them.
Saw Bud Light commercial of a young couple in love on a farm or ranch the other day, looks like they are changing their marketing strategy.
That's a good one. I'm going to be using that. Thanks!
Keep the pressure on by not buying ANY AB brand especially Bud Light.
AB still has not apologized for its mistake.
