Bud Light only has a few months to prevent sustained market share loss, warns former Anheuser-Busch sales exec

Bud Light needs to come up with a cogent strategy to win back customers in the next few months, a former executive warned, or its market share losses could become permanent.

Come September, retailers are expected to begin reallocating the limited shelf space by relying on sales data from the preceding months.

In Bud Light’s case, that could mean a diminished presence going forward following the controversy over its brief partnership with a transgender influencer, according to Anson Frericks.

A president of sales and distribution at Budweiser’s U.S. parent Anheuser-Busch until his departure in April 2022, he told the Daily Mail that rivals like Coors Lite and Yuengling could then remain a more prominent fixture in stores following this "reset."

“Those brands will have a better likelihood to succeed long term because they have more shelf space, they have more inventory, they have more back-stock, and they have more availability for consumers," he said.

The warning by Frericks, who cofounded his own asset management firm after more than a decade at the mega-brewer, comes after data suggesting that Mexican beer Modelo Especial could supplant Bud Light this year as America’s favorite frothy brew.

Bud Light is DONE. After a month of LGBTQWERTY+ propaganda, no normal beer drinker will be able to forget.

I think you are correct. Bud has done something that is irreversible. They have killed the trust they had with their customers.

It's over.

I don’t care to drink any more (or any less), but if I did drink beer again my preference would be Red Dog (Miller, which has its own problems).

Bud Light has one course of action that might work, they won’t take it because of the backlash from the Transgender Crowd.

They need to fire anyone involved in the decision to hire Dylan Mulvaney as a spokesperson.

They need to admit they lost track of their purpose and betrayed their traditional loyal customer.

They need to publicly apologize for the decision and pledge to go back to their traditional advertising campaign.

Then after some time they could begin to regain their lost customers, it’s going to take a long time and during that time they need to withstand the backlash from the media and the transgender crowd.

Actually, there is a better solution.

AB-InBev needs to spin off Bud and Bud Light to a non-Woke buyer who runs an ad campaign that pushes the theme, "Don't blame the beer...blame AB-InBev's marketing team" and then markets Bud and Bud Light to their original customer base as innocent victims of a Woke company policy. Bring out the Clydesdales and other Pro-American icons.

The beer can be saved. But AB-InBev must pay for what they did.

AB-InBev owns Modelo Especial, too, so this is just a change in position. Until people stop buying ALL InBev products, the company won’t be hurt too much. Bud Light is just one of several dozen beer brands that they own.

I wonder if the illegal immigration we’re seeing has anything to do with a Mexican beer becoming so popular here in the US.

Correction - they won’t do it because they don’t want those sweet sweet zero or even negative interest ESG loans from banks and venture capital firms to go away. Or have the ones they already got called in.

At this point I don't think even that would suffice. And you're correct, InBev is too wedded to the WEF's Gleichschaltung to risk running afoul of their orders on undermining Western Civilization.

I’m sure after Blackrock has advised AB Inbev into bankruptcy with ESG crap, they will be benevolent and buy the remains for pennies on the dollar.

”The beer can be saved. But AB-InBev must pay for what they did.”

Maybe if they ran a “Real Men of Genius” ad, “so here’s to you, VP of Marketing…”, but I think they’ve turned the brand into a joke that nobody wants to be associated with.

Remember when Schlitz was number two? Then they started a new ad campaign “You wanna take away my Schlitz.” Bud Light won’t recover.

Even my daughter who is a fan of Stella Artois, has stopped buying AB products. Tickles me to no end, seeing her take this seriously. She’s always shrugged and moved on when I talk about my decades old personal boycott list that has grown expeditiously in recent years.

They might be right about Modello grabbing market share, especially here on the leftard coast. My daughter switched to Corona, but it’s not a tasty brew, IMHO. I imagine she’ll try Modello too.

While I’m spreading the cheer, my above mentioned daughter and her eldest daughter, who with 5 kids used to shop Targét, have added Target to their do not shop list. If these two are an example of who’s not buying into this craziness, (proverbial soccer mom types), then Target is in BIGGER trouble than they ever thought could happen to them. Don’t mess with your customers kids.
