Wild video out of San Clemente shows a group of teenagers apparently assaulting a pair of military members over the weekend.

The two victims, who self-identified as Marines, say they were walking along the pier when they were confronted by the group of teens, of which there appeared to be more than 15, at around 9:50 p.m. Saturday.

Similar for myself and my future bride: this was ‘72 or ‘73, Nixon was still President. We had been at the pier, belly boarding, then started walking south on the wet sand line. We went maybe a mile or so when we saw two men, obviously not beachcombers, waking ahead of us on our left.

We weren’t stupid, we assumed Nixon was at his house, but continued on a short distance. We then gave it some further consideration: Not the kind of trouble we wanted anything to do with. We turned around to head north, back towards the pier. They watched us leave and that was that. Considering today’s world. I think we got closer than would now be allowed.

Enlighten me as to the time when two Marines were ever able to beat 15 males of similar size with their bare hands.

Captain, you have given no indication that you are other than a good man, ignorant though you be. That is not bad, ignorance can be fixed, and a good man is worth helping. My hope that you take a little advice to advance you positively in your life.
First, your quote of mine has nothing to do with your comment. That is intellectually lazy and/or no proof reading, and confuses the reader. Don't do that.
Secondly, the USMC, United States Marine Corps, or corpse as The Kenyan pronounces it, has a storied history of fighting against overwhelming odds to overcome and win. Not infrequently they have fought to the last man. A good case could be made that they are our best armed force, although the SEALS and others special forces get all the press. But, those forces are highly trained and have much higher rank than a Marine. I can only imagine what every Marine feels when he reads that two Marines curled up in a fetal position when attacked by, as I understand, a bunch of overgrown kids.

The Marines chose poorly.

They either failed to read the crowd or they read it quite well and for reasons that may forever remain a mystery, challenged it anyway.

17-year-olds have sufficient size, strength, and intellect to wear the uniform in this country; they certainly have the physical capacity to beat someone up who is wearing one.
