A Cobb County judge recently ruled in favor of 186 Georgia churches suing to disaffiliate from the United Methodist Church.
In a crowded courtroom filled with more than 200 people, Superior Court Judge Steven Schuster ruled Tuesday that 186 United Methodist churches should be able to vote to disaffiliate from the UMC, according to a news release from the Wesleyan Covenant Association, an organization helping north Georgia churches disaffiliate.
The Georgia churches listed in the lawsuit, filed on March 30, requested the North Georgia Annual Conference restore the processes that were already in place allowing churches to disaffiliate.

Adams doesn’t introduce anything new. His work is meant to recapture that which is lost.
My church is 100% bullet-proof because of church discipline.
Rainbow v. Old Rugged Cross!
On a hill, near-a-by
Waved a bright, rainbow flag
What should be a symbol of shame;
But the kind “Christian” folk
With “inclusion” awoke
Assembled to blaspheme God’s name.
Who could cherish the bright rainbow flag?
Which abrogates God’s pure Covenant?
Choose instead, the Old Rugged Cross—
And His mercy, please never forget.
Ping.
More stanza will likely follow.
Independent, un-afilliated is the only way. For any denomination.
For clarity on the issue. A very subjective definition.
One might suggest, in the 1990s...the university system producing the ministers...was infiltrated, and what came out was a liberal-minded minister.
As promised:
O the bright, rainbow flag
I forever will rue
Its chap’ons wrath
Gladly bear
But I pray for the Day
When it’s stripes fade away
When the pure Light of Christ o’er all share!
The claim they are tens of thousands of Protestant denominations may be a completely fabricated number.
33,000 Protestant Denominations? No!
Good for you. May God bless you
We had to pay a hefty ransom to get out with our property too but it’ll be worth it. Our Bible believing/teaching preacher will stay. All but one of the UMC’s in our area have voted to disaffiliate.
I’ll take your BLM sine and raise you a drag queen pride event of the local united church of Christ congregations is holding in my area this June.
My daughters church is leaving, but its looking like they don’t have the money to buy the church
Nationwide it appears to be around 11%.
It distorts the picture quite a bit to consider merely a count of congregations. What is the head count?
The ones disaffiliating and leaving are overwhelmingly the much larger, growing, vibrant congregations, usually pastored by a man, and adhering to the traditional values (conservative) of the historical Methodist Church. Those remaining are likely dying on the vine because they have no root in sound theology.
No doubt there will be a lot of shuffling of members when the dust clears, but it will be a separation of the wheat and chaff.
Religion is free and religion is personal between you and God.
Commercialization of the Churches and religion has caused a lot of problems like all the cover ups and lawsuit payouts not to mention the freak shows trying to infiltrate them. Should have never happened.
It started earlier during the 60s when many denominations allowed young men to avoid the Vietnam draft by registering in the seminaries. They allowed hippies and other liberals in without checking their beliefs. And then some decided to stay and infect the leadership.
We have a Lutheran Church near King of Prussia PA that proudly displays the homosexual rainbow colors on all their windows.
Our church won’t allow a vote because they know the outcome. I heard that another church was planning to vote and the votes cast were overwhelmingly (90%) for disaffiliation but some members strategically stayed home as to deny the quorum so it was scheduled for another try.
This effing scumbags would rather keep their fellow congregants in a church that they don’t want to be in and force them to pray to homos than allow them to go their own way. The UMC will have plenty of empty buildings and will soon merge with the Unitarians.
Someone please tell me who the fascists are and what we have in common with them. Where is the common ground?
That happened to the Catholics too. Then they had Vatican II that really shook up things…for the worse.
My fellow congregants voted unanimously to disaffiliate from the godless Marxists who wield control of the offices of the United Methodist Church. Numbers of our sister congregations are following suit here on the MD peninsula.
