Sales of the US’s No. 1 beer were down 24.6% for the week ended May 13 compared to a year ago — slightly worse than the 23.6% dip they suffered a week earlier, according to Bump Williams Consulting and Nielson IQ research.
Even more alarming, industry experts say, is the negative impact on Anheuser-Busch InBev’s other brands, including Budweiser, Michelob Ultra — with the latter being the nation’s No. 3 beer last year with more than $3.3 billion in sales last year.
Michelob Ultra sales were off 2.9% versus a year ago in the latest week, in line with a drop a week earlier, according to a Bump Williams analysis of Nielsen IQ data. Sales of Budweiser, last year’s No. 7 beer with more than $1.8 billion in sales, were down 9.7% in each of the two most recent weeks.
“Bud Light is ‘sick,’” Bump Williams, founder of the consultancy said of the US’s top-selling beer, which raked in $4.8 billion in sales last year. “It’s now infected other healthy brands with the InBev portfolio and that’s a bigger problem in my mind.”
Bud Light has lost $110 million in sales volume year-to-date compared to the same period last year. The number of Bud Light cases sold was down 28.4% in the week ended May 13 from a year ago compared to a 27.7% decline the previous week.

Yuengling is only available in about half the US - the rest of us are tired of the pimping.
Leinenkugel makes great beer and at least you can get it in all 50 states.
Support your local microbrew.
My question still stands: prior to the controversy, what type of people actually drank Bud Light?
Trump Jr is deeply saddened.
“My question still stands: prior to the controversy, what type of people actually drank Bud Light?”
Frat boys that don’t want to lug around a keg. The genius behind the marketing complained about the core buyers being too “fratty.”
“$110 Million. Amazing.”
But the Third Cousin of one of their contract janitors gave $10 to the GOP, so Trump Jr. says we should support them.
It's really a pretty good beer.
“History would seem to indicate the boycott will eventually lose steam. The right and the middle can’t hold onto the level of hatred needed to make the boycott stick.”
Hell, we can’t even start boycotts. But this is different, as the alternatives are right there, right on the shelf next to Bud Lite. Much tougher trying to explain a boycott of Disney to a 5 year old, and then coming up with alternatives.
And it's commodity beer, which can be replaced by any one of several other brands.
The sales might not stay down at 25% or so less than prior years, but it would be very optimistic to think the whole thing blows over and Bud Light goes back to being # 1.
It’s not about trans “hate” whatsoever… they just throw the hate card out there and sometimes it sticks. That’s how they move the ideology forward… No debate and call people phobic
Bud light, Dylan the 12 year old and the ridiculous way Anheuser-Busch is trying to recover from this fatal wound is the end of them.
Have you noticed how Dylan the 12-year-old is completely silent these days? Where is that loud mouth?

I overindulged on their “Summer Shandy” once. Horrible experience of my own making.
Nice. But find me my Bass Ale. It disappeared in 2019 for unknown reasons?
It’s the 2023 version of being called a faggot, without having to say the words.
I don’t know about that.
I consider myself to be somewhere to the right of Attila The Hun and probably lower middle class.
I wouldn’t drink any of AB/INBEV crap if they gave it to me for free!
Bass Ale brand is owned by Anheuser-Busch
If A-B would just sell beer and not Queer, they wouldn’t have a problem.
Well I’ve switched. First it was Miller, now I’m on yuengling Lite. Maybe my taste buds were off last time I tried it. It tasted really good this last saturday.
.
I just looked up.
Apparently Bass Ale is now only available in British pubs.
The following doublespeak/gibberish 'explains' what is going on -

Is Bass Ale really Discontinued?
There is pernicious news for all the Bass Ale fans.
Unfortunately, we will reveal that it has been announced
that the Bass Ale Brand will no longer be available in
its original brand as it has discontinued its production
in the USA.
This heartbreaking news has created a sensation on social
media as one of the Reddit users posted, “Maybe if
Anheuser Busch heard how much people miss Bass, they
might reconsider. Worth a try.”
Another user posted on the same thing, “ Just reached out to
AB directly: the response was that, Hey! Unfortunately,
Bass is not being brewed at the moment: I don’t want to
say it’s been discontinued, as I have not been informed
of that, but typically when a beer is not brewed very
often, or once every couple of months, it’s usually due
to a decline in sales/ change in the company direction.
I will be sure to share the feedback, though!”
People were blasted out after getting this news of the
discontinuation of bass ale and poured out their anger on
social media through tweets and posts.
Why is Bass Ale discontinued?
Bass Ale was axed because of its shortage. People posted on
Reddit that there may be a shortage of Bass Ale. One of
the Reddit users said, “Are you sure? I just heard there
was a shortage”.
The company has also canceled the plans to import the beer
stock because of its huge shortage. While it has been
said that the Bass company declared to cut down the
production of Bass ale because they decided to put light
on hospitality instead of brewing anymore. To do so, the
Belgian brewer Interbrew took over this beer business in
June 2000. So many questions were raised after
finalizing this deal.

Leinenkugel is owned by Molson-Coors, not much better than InBev, and no longer a microbrew.
