The Supreme Court is set to issue its final decisions on a number of cases over the next month, including Biden’s student loan forgiveness program and affirmative action policies within colleges and universities, notably UNC and Harvard.
The decision on affirmative action will be based on two parallel cases the court heard together, one regarding public university UNC and the other for private universities, namely Harvard, on whether a student’s race and be considered in admission decisions, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Both cases, one against the University of North Carolina, and one against the President and Fellows of Harvard College, were brought forth by Students for Fair Admissions, which alleges that schools taking race into consideration on college applications violate equal protection under law.

That’s the general consensus based upon the questioning by the justices during oral argument. However, Roberts is the wild card. The Chief Justice can explain why a law, policy, or regulation is unconstitutional and then rule in it’s favor regardless of his own finding. He tends to favor the bureaucracy if there is a constitutional question regarding their right to implement a policy before the Court.
True story: About 30 years ago I was dating a woman who was a Radcliffe grad. She told me that a classmate of hers who was a Vice Chancellor of Admissions at Harvard told her that were it not for Harvard’s “complicated” admissions policies every Freshman class would consist entirely of Asians and Jews.
Amen. And loan forgiveness should be thrown out as well. Why should a plumber's daughter be forced to pay the college costs for a lawyer's son?
