If a group (any group) commits more crimes relative to other groups, then that group should be expected to have higher arrest and incarceration rates.
If a group (any group) commits more fraud relative to other groups, then that group should be expected to have higher IRS rates.

ow does the IRS know when it decides to look at a return what color the taxpayer is?
Anyway, most audits are desk or computer audits, which are based on obvious mistake on the return.
It's simply not possible, a fat minority don't even file, the rest file EZ and get the EITC and the bennies.

Never audited coz I am an engineer and accurate calculations is my profession.
Taxpayers have no idea what race someone is when they stick an audit code on a return. It’s done purely according to algorithms. Those algorithms totally screw people whose take-home pay is an unusually large portion of their net pay (i.e., priests and ministers). Now, what portion of moderately wealthy black people are former athletes? ministers? Have children by multiple partners? Have businesses with a lot of “under the table” or “off the book” payments? Any of these conditions will make someone much more likely to be audited.
It’s because of the Earned Income Tax Credit. There are more audits because compliance cannot be tested otherwise.
That’s because many have a bad attitude, a sense of entitlement and a general disregard for authority.
