A town which once prided itself as being the “most hippie” in Washington has taken drastic action to outlaw drugs, after state-wide decriminalization led to spiking crime and child overdose deaths.

The proudly liberal city of 92,000 has been pushed to its limit, with the fire department responding to 223 overdoses — 2.5 calls per day — between January and April 12, according to Cascadia Daily.

Among the dead are two teenagers and a five year old, who had overdosed on fentanyl in March and was found dead by police with foam coming from her mouth. Overdoses have become so commonplace, one victim was dead for hours before anyone even noticed, accor

“Well, to start, Washingtonians, you have the government (politicians) you voted for. That should give you a clue on how/where to start.”

Actually, where I live now in WA State (300,000 metro area), votes 60-40 or better Republican.

Singapore has almost no problems with illegal drugs. I wonder why.

And as a side note, when Singapore does carry out an execution, liberals worldwide cry and moan. The pope weeps uncontrollably. The Secretary General of the UN lodges a formal complaint.

But will any of those folks cry over that dead five-year-old girl in the article? No they will not.

Both are shitsville now. Wokism is the new fascism, and that’s not a joke.

Drug culture is never a good policy if your goal is the health & well-being of your citizens.

The self-described progressive parents who lost a schizophrenic son blame the state. He’d get released from treatment without them knowing. The dad says he favors forced treatment like (he says) Newsom and NYC’s mayor. Really?

I don’t know why the state Supreme Court overturned the felony drug law that was in place. The useless state government couldn’t even renew the current misdemeanor drug law which frustrated Gov Inslee. I shouldn’t laugh but the irony plus he says we can’t decriminalize while in the middle of a fentanyl crisis. There’s always a new drug crisis governor. That’s why the war on drugs has to be fought at the border and in the “pain clinics.”

We don’t do nearly enough about mental health in this country.

I guessed right without peeking! Bellingham, Washington State. Good for the Bellingham citizens that they are reacting properly against the drug plague. I f'ing hate all drugs, especially the gateway drug called marijuana. I don't even take Tylenol. The last time I smoked marijuana was 50 years ago. The big deal back then was drinking this awful crap called Boone's Farm wine. Along with smoking marijuana. Which was so much weaker back then.

Boone's Farm wines are still around ---- https://doyouremember.com/115266/boones-farm-wine-still-exists

Weed is a gateway drug to socialism and government control.

Absolutely. They target those they’ve convinced are impoverished and disadvantaged by put system and the youth who lack the life experience to understand long term consequences.

I went to Spokane 2 weeks ago on my way to Newport. I had to step across so many drug addicts in Spokane walking to the river walk and had my head on a swivel the entire way. What a craphole, I’ll never go back there.

My girlfriend is walking to Mass at the Cathedral right this minute. Fortunately, the west side of downtown doesn’t seem to have too many homeless and druggies. But a month ago when I stopped for gas at a station on Division adjacent to downtown they were swarming all over the property.

Ironically, prolonged high-strength marijuana use might be the worst narcotic for schizophrenics. It really messes with the brain chemistry of diagnosed and undiagnosed schizophrenics and a lot of studies are beginning to point this out.

The homeless addicts in Washington most often use a cocktail of fentanyl, meth, and marijuana and the results speak for themselves. If you travel to any of these places you will notice the huge numbers of young people in these camps and on the streets. This is a real mess and the brain damage for most is permanent.

“What did they think was going to happen?”

Truly amazing, isn’t it? Liberals are incapable of believing that Cause and Effect is real.

The first candidate who favors the death penalty for fentanyl pushers gets my vote. I'd settle for declaring fentanyl a WMD.

Mega Dittos on that. When I am King-- My death penalty will be to load the drug pushers onto high flying airplanes and helicopters, and drop them into the ocean 20 miles out. Sink or swim time, baby! Though 99% of the time, the impact will kill them, or render them unconscious, so they drown.

I stayed at the hotel on division right across from the 7 eleven, and had a view of the station. It was a freak show all night and the cops were chasing them off the property several times during the night.
