Despite partisan divides, pretty much everyone agrees that America's leaders made mistakes during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Now, a group of more than 30 heavy-hitting experts from the worlds of policy, public health, science, biodefense and patient advocacy has written a book reviewing some of those errors and making suggestions for avoiding similar missteps in the future.
The book "Lessons from the COVID War," published Tuesday, is deliberate in its use of military metaphors. COVID-19 should have been attacked like a foreign invasion, but too often the nation's leaders were absent from the battlefield, they argue.

Sure, and China should’ve been front and center in that.
So, the “leadership” of today is performing the same with respect to the illegal alien invasion. How do we punish them when it finally becomes obvious to even idiots (e.g. the left)?
It was the flu. 99.98% survivable. No extraordinary action was required.
Good grief. Didn’t out of control government do enough damage during the shamdemic?
Everything’s easily solved, with 20/20 hindsight.
I could solve most of America’s problems now, with 20/20 hindsight, and I would do it by making sure that people back in 2020 don’t vote for Biden, or by making sure that the democrats didn’t cheat in that election.
Americans were primed to stick their heads between their own asses and turtle-up when the COVID charade was foisted on the planet.
Have we learned any lessons?
We’ve learned that our political master class absolutely adores fascism. They’ve made it our form of government.
No. Any more questions?

No it should have been investigated for the criminal scam it was.
Try to think of a hoax, any hoax, that America hasn’t fallen for…we still believe Land of the Free, Home of the Brave.
What a WEAK article. I expected to learn something concrete. All I learned is we went into the pandemic with 19th century systems in place and that’s still where we are.
He writes that Israel and Europe had half the school lock-downs we had without mentioning teacher’s unions fighting re-opening tooth and nail.
If these are best examples they can extract from the book, it’s not very useful.
The best course of action should have been to allow it to run its course so the vast majority of the population would have natural immunity. That’s called herd immunity and there would not have been as many mutations or maybe no mutations that lengthen its impact.
Actually, the war against Covid was a lot like the Iraq and Afghanistan wars - our government lied to force us into it. Luckily, Trump was POTUS, so it didn’t last 20 years.
Then we should have attacked the entire DNC leadership........Covid was and is a LIE!!!
Yes… big pharma matters more than your freedom.
They were not mistakes. They were intentional.
The misleaders (especially the ecclesial hierarchs) decried that as "cruel" and "reckless" and placed their every hope in the golden syringe that Fauxichadnezzar had set up.
Really?
So in you opinion going after Covid with Abrams M1 tanks would
have been even worse overkill than locking down the country?
Well - perhaps you are correct.
