After fifty years, the Equal Rights Amendment is again rearing its ugly head. After a contentious hearing on the ERA in February, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer plans to bring legislation (S.J. Res. 4) to the floor to remove the seven-year deadline on Thursday, April 27. There are 53 co-sponsors for this revival of the ERA, but because the vote will be on ‘cloture,’ 60 votes are needed to advance the resolution. While proponents claim that this amendment will give women “rights,” it actually does the opposite.

Why would we need an ERA when they can’t even define what a woman is anymore and anyone can claim they are a woman?

If anyone doubted it before, it’s now abundantly clear. We’re dealing with ‘60s and ‘70s “activists” grown old and determined to finally inflict their antiquated agenda on the United States before they croak.

It’s a joke resolution! If it passes, it will have no effect in law. Let those stupid idiots pass it and think they’ve accomplished something. It will accomplish nothing at law.

If there is zero deadline for amendments and states are not allowed to withdraw their vote that basically means congress can amend the constitution any way they please and simply wait out the states.
I assume this is to get campaign ammo.

I support ERA insofar as men and women should be treated equal. Yes, same rights in work, in public life, and in the military, e.g., the draft. But in the details, let them compete on merit. For sports, where men and women are physically different, let them compete by their born sex. The dangers that need to be addressed is where the ERA could be twisted to become something very different than intended.

Third, this person appears to be cognitively impaired or drugged, or both. His mind appears to be not even his own. He is a puppet. Lord, who and what is speaking through this man’s mouth?
This is pathetic and disgusting, but we deserve this man, Lord. But please, we ask mercy and not what we deserve.

Now, in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the power of his Blood, we bind and rebuke the strongman over all evil spirit powers operating in, above, around, and through the person or entity presented to us as President Biden, including all of his handlers, nursemaids, and puppeteers telling him what to do and say and sign. Over all Executive Orders this person or entity has signed. We loose into him the spirits of salvation, adoption, and repentance, that whomever he is, he recieves the Lord Jesus as his Savior, and receives all these blessings.

And all the people hurt by those who are draining and dissipating us, and tearing apart our nation, and working to bring in a One World Government, Religion, centralized powers, death, and slavery.

How do you delete the time limit? Once it hit, the legislation is gone gone, not just sitting in a limbo!
A federal court in Idaho in the 9th Circuit ruled the extension unconstitutional because the wrong process was used by Congress. Appeals to the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court failed. The ERA died on June 1, 1979.
A few years ago a number of states with Democrat legislatures attempted to ratify the ERA belatedly. It was an exercise in virtue signaling. The Archivist of the United States refused to accept those ratifications because the ERA had died in 1979. Those states sued in the DC Circuit, and another group of states sued to uphold the Archivist's rejection. A few months ago, the DC Circuit upheld the rejection and -- again -- officially killed the ERA.
This release from the Eagle Forum is from two years ago. I suspect that someone mistakenly sent it out. The ERA died 44 years ago, and the courts have ruled it dead.
As Ruth Bader Ginsburg said to the ERA's proponents, "You have to start all over again." Brutally put, the votes aren't there in either House of Congress to revive the ERA.
The original ERA said in the wording that it had to be passed withing 7 years and it wasn’t. You can’t change the wording of the original proposed amendment and substitute something different and then declare that all the previous ratifications by the states still holds up.
No, it's in the preamble to the text of the proposed amendment.
I should have stated original resolution. It is still binding, as it is not merely an ideal or purpose, but a specific timetable that is part of the resolution.
