Bud Light has suffered a “staggering” sales hit following the beer brand’s controversial marketing tie-up with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney — with the latest data showing an alarming 17% drop, according to an industry research firm.
The latest sales data from NielsenIQ and Bump Williams Consulting shows that Bud Light sales fell 17% in dollars, while volume dropped a whopping 21% in the week ended April 15.
That’s sharply ahead of the 6% drop in sales dollars and 11% drop in volume that Bud Light had suffered during the week ended April 8 — the seven days that immediately followed the April 1 launch of the controversial Mulvaney campaign on social media.
“These numbers are staggering,” according to an April 23 report from Insights Express, a beer-focused newsletter. “Right now this is an extremely difficult scenario for Anheuser Busch, the Bud Light brand and for AB distributors.”

I don’t think they will ever recover Bud Lite. IMO
I switched by lawn mowing swill lite beer from Bud to Miller. They taste about the same.
17% is a start, don’t let them off the mat.
Well they are both "fizzy alcohol water."
i went back to drinking yuengling... over coors... i am not a big beer drinker, but i do appreciate brewers who know reality.
Disappointed. Should have been 70%. Too many people just don’t care.
Why?
Is Schlitz not available any more?.........................
Exactly
I loved Schlitz in the 70's :)
Yep. Who is drinking this watered down sh*t?
ruthlessly mock and laugh every time you see someone you know having Bud Light at an event, putting it the cooler for a lake trip, whatever.
Kill this brand!
Yuengling is pretty good.
Not a big beer drinker.
The only2 I ever really liked was Carling’s Black Label and Stroh’s Dark beer I used to be able to get from Pizza Hut
Worst beer ever: Iron City in the 32 oz can
I see they went defunct in 1999..............

Let's see what happens next week. Some of the sales could have been contract obligations that pre-date the Dylan Mulvaney controversy.
It's like Saab, once they sold it to GM (or whomever) it was never Saab again.
I live out on the country in FL and every Wawa, Racetrack and 7-11 beer cooler I have been in of late is full of Budt and Budt Wipe.
That light beer doesn’t even smell like the beer of old. Coors Banquet beer had a certain aroma. These light beers smell like tap water with rubbing alcohol splashed in!
Only 83% to go.
It appears to be selling like hotcakes at my local grocery store. Every time I drop by, I take a look at the beer section now. Lately, Yuengling is being re-stocked pretty frequently while Bud always has lots of stock just kind of sitting there. And I haven’t seen a single person buying Bud lately.
