A 20-year-old woman was shot dead by an upstate New York homeowner Saturday night after the driver of the car she was riding in turned into the wrong driveway, authorities said.
Kaylin Gillis, from Saratoga County, was inside the vehicle with three pals when they made a wrong turn into a driveway while searching for a friend’s house in the town of Hebron, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office said.
As the driver of the car was leaving, Kevin Monahan, the owner of the home the group accidentally pulled up to, allegedly fired two shots from his patio at the vehicle, authorities said. Gillis was struck by one of the bullets.

Maybe back in high school, if he ever got out of the 9th grade, he read In Cold Blood, and was still scared.
Given the facts as we know them, this was criminal and some sort of murder charge would be appropriate. Wonder what was wrong with the guy, dementia, medication? Mental illness?
I get that all the time, had to order another address sign and put it so they could see it on the garage so no more uber eats deliveries thankfully.
People make mistakes and this guy made a really bad one. Actions have consequences and bad actions have bad consequences all the way around. A weapon is a responsibility that is not to be taken lightly. He is going to get what he deserved. Pray for the victim’s family.
You pointing a rifle at the occupants of the car granted them complete justification to, had they been armed, shoot you DRT. It would have been justified self defense.
...she was vaccinated and the magnetic pole that sticks nickels to peoples foreheads was so strong as the vaccinations are genetic therapies that increase the slouch toward being a borg overtime drew an innocently shot bullet to her and killed her. See. Clot $hot. It’s the only thing it could be.
People are getting crazy.
Men aren’t men anymore, a mixture of fear/macho/anger has replaced masculinity in many of them, what a fearful weakling this guy is.
Nonsense! They were trespassers. However, that does not warrant death by the landowner.
There you go....preparing for a threat isn’t the same as actively engaging as though everything is a lethal threat.
And he found out the hard way as well that just because you're touchy about trespassers, you can't murder people for turning in your driveway.
I hope he died in prison.
—”It damages people and families for decades. They never show that in the media or movies.”
A sad truth.
In the movies/tv, they are usually quickly dead or has an arm in a sling the next day. No colostomy bags, wheelchairs, or years of therapy.
Because we all live inside our own reality, great numbers of people live in a reality shaped by movies/tv. Not real-world experience.
Recall the wide use of the ‘side grip.
Too many times I was asked about “The Deer Hunter” Russian roulette, by people that should understand a metaphor.
(I forgot to duck and was hit in the head RVN 69)
I ask if they had ever been involved in a car accident.
Even a minor one?
Now tell me of a movie/tv that induced an equal amount of pure terror.
Yes, some make a claim, but clearly, they have been spared any previous contact with the seventh circle of hell.
Also, notice how many cite a movie/tv to explain violent action and much more. A shortcut for thinking, made in Hollywood.
You’ve quacked up..

I hate to tell you but in the N GA mountains you have to be real careful about which drive you turn into. I’m as serious as a heart attack.
The dude is a real vile little troll.
“I hate to tell you but in the N GA mountains you have to be real careful about which drive you turn into. I’m as serious as a heart attack.”
Same here in the hills of E.TN.
Being so stupid as this Kevin Monahan should not have lived so long.
What an absolutely stupid thing to do.
That gaslighter guy is a real POS.
I have a 500’ long private “road” (old feed road for the farm) off a busy Farm to Market (FM) road that leads to my house. It’s about 400’ long, a 90 degree turn, and another 100’ to my house.
I keep the front porch light on, have cameras, and motion sensing lights on the side and back. And, I’ve had dogs for the entire time.
I’ve had some “yutes” come down my driveway late at night over the past 20 years, but never more than once and not in years.
I guess word got around about the guy who’d meet you at the side/back porch with his hand behind his back. No one ever made the turn, they’d just stop, look, and back right up the entire 400’.
I think this is an effect of people being just a little too jumpy about people they don't know. I'm not sure how this has developed, but it's starting to be all too real.
People make mistakes and end up in places they don't belong, but that doesn't instantly make them a threat.
What crawled up your derrière today? You’re on here going on about your vax obsession and attacking a poster for expressing a justifiable opinion about a jackass who killed a young lady just for pulling into a driveway??
Buzz off and go find a vax thread where you can stir up your cr@p.
