A plus-size travel social media influencer demanded that airlines better accommodate larger passengers when traveling.
Jae’lynn Chaney from Vancouver, Washington, started the Change.org petition “Demand for the FAA to Protect Plus-Sized Customers,” detailing several demands to ensure larger passengers can fly without issues.
… “The FAA must require all airlines to implement a clear customer-of-size policy that prioritizes the comfort and well-being of all passengers. This policy should include clear guidelines on accommodating larger passengers, such as providing larger seats, seat belt extenders, and alternative seating arrangements,” Chaney wrote in the petition.
“All plus-size passengers should be provided with an extra free seat, or even two or three seats depending on their size, to accommodate their needs and ensure their comfort during the flight,” the influencer wrote.
For plus-size passengers who purchase extra seats on their own, Chaney wants the airlines to fully reimburse their additional seats, saying this process should be “straightforward.”

I hope airlines will HELP the health of America by giving discounts to people who are trim, and TAX people who are fat. It COSTS more in fuel and space to haul fat folks. Just plain economics, no racial or prejudice feelings. Facts. I say put every passenger on a scale and charge $10cents a pound per lb. We would all be incentized to loose weight.

Remember those metal frames they had to see if your carry on luggage would fit? Have one for passengers. You don’t fit? Buy an extra seat! I hate when some lardo spills over into the space that I paid for. If you’re as big as two, pay for two.
They need to start charging by weight of bags and passenger.

On a commuter flight with extra small seats a very obese man had the seat next to me He tried to stay in his space But he literally spilled over the armrest into my space I felt bad for him but at the same time I wanted to at least enjoy the limited space I had purchased
And if obese people get a free extra seat then why shouldn’t I get extra space to relax, especially on longer flights No, If your size requires two seats then you purchase two seats

At Doctor’s offices and various medical facilities, there are very large chairs. If an air line or even train seat requires the oversize seat, extra charge is justified.

Former flight attendant chiming in - imagine an emergency on your plane where an emergency evacuation needs to take place - let’s say an engine caught fire and everyone will evacuate on the runway. This porker will delay everyone getting off the plane in a safe manner. If the window exits are the only ones being about to be used (water evacuation) then bye bye to everyone on the plane as she will not be able to get through and could cause the death of others behind her and her inability to maneuver would affect anyone trying to evacuate.
Also, if there is an impact, her seat could easily be dislodged and flung forward causing the injury and death of others as the seats are only able to hold so much weight safely.
I deadheaded everywhere and to sit beside an obese person was awful. Many were gracious but some would argue about needing a seatbelt extender and claim to have been purposefully humiliated by the flight attendant giving them one when she saw their seatbelt wouldn’t connect because of their girth. They have lifted the armrests and poured onto my space of seat and sweated on me and bumped me anytime they moved.
Try eating a salad every once in a while or better yet, charter a cargo plane. I have zero sympathy. I saw paraplegics with more grace than this sow - people who had no control over their lot in life and then you have someone like her who approaches every Chinese buffet with a tractor beam and a shovel. The entitlement is just sickening.
Put them on a C-130 with a forklift.

The solution has always been there: Take up two seats, pay for two seats.
Don’t forget the climate implications: Hauling that wide load increases fuel consumption and drowns the polar bears.
