Welp, there's one more Democrat city losing America's most popular retail chain because they refuse to do anything about crime.
Recently, Walmart closed their last remaining store in the Commie paradise of Portland, and now the retail giant is announcing that they are closing 4 of their 8 stores in the metropolis of Chicago.
Here's Walmart's explanation for why they're closing half of the stores in Chiraq:
The simplest explanation is that collectively our Chicago stores have not been profitable since we opened the first one nearly 17 years ago – these stores lose tens of millions of dollars a year, and their annual losses nearly doubled in just the last five years. The remaining four Chicago stores continue to face the same business difficulties, but we think this decision gives us the best chance to help keep them open and serving the community.
Their losses DOUBLED in just the last five years? Hmm, I wonder what bank-breaking things have happened in the last five years?
It couldn't be that five years ago, in 2018, the City of Chicago artificially increased the minimum wage by nearly 60%, only to continue to increase year after year from that time.
Surely that Democrat policy only made the stores more profitable, right?
And it couldn't have anything to do with the tremendous crime wave that's swept the United States since the George Floyd riots!
Chicago used to be one of the great American cities. Even when it was run by the machine politics of Mayor Daly it wasn't as bad as it is today under Lightfoot and the new mayor Brandon Johnson who will continue bad policy.
All of this is going down in Chicago as the Democrats plan to hold the DNC in the Democrat city.
Gonna be a Walmart desert.
They are going John Galt. It’s really the only way to handle this and make the democrat’s system they created implode.
liberal policies create shop lifting deserts
“Put everything behind lock & key for *all* customers. Eliminate self-checkout. Most people are oblivious to the theft losses at the retail level.”
Perfectly reasonable to keep the store open.
And then have Shop on line only, with a pick up counter.
But I wonder how much of the store theft is done by Wlamart employees.
True enough. And besides the undocumented purchases, there are the undocumented sales.
The two Wal-Mart stores in Portland Oregon are now closed.
This trend will continue as capitalists redirected capital away from areas that won’t produce a good ROI.
>> Does this strawman employer of yours force people to work for a wage you deem unacceptable? <<
No straw man involved. The vast majority of welfare payments go to workers who have jobs. Don’t forget the folks supporting the illegal immigration invasion are the trillion-dollar corporations who want cheap labor. So the keep wages below where anyone can legally afford to take the job without welfare. When no-one shows up for the job, they bitch and moan about there not being enough illegal aliens. Then the illegal aliens have kids who qualify for welfare, but can’t afford them so I have to pay for their food, consumer goods, housing subsidies, Obamacare, education, etc., all so corporations which make hundreds of billions of dollars in profit can make still more tens of billions of dollars.
Screw that. These are anti-American treasonists you’re defending. Who do you think keeps putting Uncle Joe into office? Who do you think pays off the Lindsey Grahams and Lisa Murkowskis and John Cornyns of the world so that they prefer watching Republicans in other states lose elections while they live like billionaires?
“”Eliminate self-checkout.””
After we all remained at home for a while I visited a nearby Walmart. It is a very large store, with everything from grocery, food, to an auto repair and tire shop. It used to have 25-30 check out stands with cashiers. It now has 2-3 human cashiers, and everything else is self checkout. There are many staff ‘monitoring’ the self checkout.
Let’s go Brandon!

And just to be clear, Walmart is NOT the bad guys here.
“nice living by Walmart allowing them to steal what and whenever they want.”
The zombies will just drive to the next Walmart to steal their supplies to sell on Amazon.
“The zombies will just drive to the next Walmart to steal their supplies to sell on Amazon.”
It would be funny if the zombies had a store on the Walmart marketplace to sell the stolen goods on walmart.com like they do on Amazon.

They helped create this: Yup, not just helped but powered right thru it. Remember in the days when Wallyworld was growing, expanding, coming to your neighborhood? Remember when they were cherry picking local businesses and wiping them out. They would take a few popular items from any particular store, promote them, and take the base load away from the small shop.
The small shops who survived that were the ones who had “customer service” which Wally never had. Then remember when they advertised “American made?” And it didn’t take long before they were claiming to keep inflation down by buying chicom?
I’ve never bought a single piece of lowgrade krap from a Walmart and am sitting on the curb clapping while I watch them get what they got coming . Sam Walton supported the Klintoons and we owe him for that also.
Another “teens” problem.
On the night he won, new Mayor Brandon blamed businesses for crime and murders, because they don’t pay enough taxes on his view.
I’m NOT kidding. WSJ covered it when everyone else ignored it.
TYSON Foods also gave serious support to Clinton-—before he even was Governor.
I refuse to buy ANYTHING that is Tyson.
So jobs are supposed to pay a "living wage" and not what they are worth?
I don't have time to waste on stealth Communists. Go away.
Not giving your stuff away.
Hate Crime
Victim narrative 101
Small stores like CVS and Walgreens are going under and getting out due to theft.
The mom and pops on main street largely died long ago.
But, there is NO WAY a stand alone family run business could withstand the volume of theft today.
The big chains are able to stay open by subsidizing the hardest hit stores, and immediately shifting stock to those locations.
An independant can’t do that. They would just die.
