Welp, there's one more Democrat city losing America's most popular retail chain because they refuse to do anything about crime.
Recently, Walmart closed their last remaining store in the Commie paradise of Portland, and now the retail giant is announcing that they are closing 4 of their 8 stores in the metropolis of Chicago.
Here's Walmart's explanation for why they're closing half of the stores in Chiraq:
The simplest explanation is that collectively our Chicago stores have not been profitable since we opened the first one nearly 17 years ago – these stores lose tens of millions of dollars a year, and their annual losses nearly doubled in just the last five years. The remaining four Chicago stores continue to face the same business difficulties, but we think this decision gives us the best chance to help keep them open and serving the community.
Their losses DOUBLED in just the last five years? Hmm, I wonder what bank-breaking things have happened in the last five years?
It couldn't be that five years ago, in 2018, the City of Chicago artificially increased the minimum wage by nearly 60%, only to continue to increase year after year from that time.
Surely that Democrat policy only made the stores more profitable, right?
And it couldn't have anything to do with the tremendous crime wave that's swept the United States since the George Floyd riots!
Chicago used to be one of the great American cities. Even when it was run by the machine politics of Mayor Daly it wasn't as bad as it is today under Lightfoot and the new mayor Brandon Johnson who will continue bad policy.
All of this is going down in Chicago as the Democrats plan to hold the DNC in the Democrat city.
The democRATs will open their competitor stores to take Walmart’s place. It will be called “Gimme Dat”. Government subsidies will prevent losses.
They helped create this, they should be forced to stay open and deal with what they helped create.
Not to mention the money lost to sales tax revenue going away.................
They’ve been invading the suburbs for years already. Knocking down Cabrini Green and Robert Taylor homes was the worst thing ever to happen to the suburbs.
The hoodrats we’re all redistributed all over the place to plunder previously umplundered areas.
Some malls are so crime ridden, especially during the holidays, multiple paddy wagons rotate back and forth to the police station from the malls.
And as s if it couldn’t be any worse, they’re quickly released on an eye bond, upon which they go back to the mall and steal some more, because the crack head Crook County States Attorney won’t prosecute them, and they know it.
Can’t blame Walmart a single bit here...
Walmart won’t come right out and say it’s the shoplifting because Walmart is run by woke libs.
Does this strawman employer of yours force people to work for a wage you deem unacceptable?
How many employees do you have on your payroll?
Put everything behind lock & key for *all* customers. Eliminate self-checkout. Most people are oblivious to the theft losses at the retail level.
On the night he won, new Mayor Brandon blamed businesses for crime and murders, because they don’t pay enough taxes on his view.
I’m NOT kidding. WSJ covered it when everyone else ignored it.
And the voters in Chicago just elected someone as bas as the previous mayor. I blame those voters, but I also blame the media for helping to sustain the political ignorance of the voters. Illinois voters in agreement with that assessment should just leave Illinois if they can, and if not at least encourage their children to look for work outside Illinois when their schooling is done.
Democrats, stick to our tried-and-true Presidential Election script: Walmart is racist, Trump is racist (indicted on 34 felony criminal charges, arrested, and fingerprinted) and the U.S. is racist. Slavery. That's why there's so much endless violence, rioting, and looting in all the inner-cities. It's all "the whites'" (including Trump's) fault.
And another 158 years from now, in the year 2181, all the same violence problems will still exist in the Democrat-run inner-cities and it will still be the fault of "the whites."
Orange man bad, elmo-puppet good. (So get with the program now and be sure to "Follow the Script.")
Best wishes,
Democrat political "leaders"
“..Which means the hoodrats are coming to your nice Chicagoland suburb to do their “shopping”......”
Couldn’t happen to a nicer liberal bunch.....except maybe Martha’s Vineyard.
Sales? 😳
I recently ordered two tires on walmart.com They sent me an email the order was delayed. Nothing further.
Then, I got an email saying I had picked up one of the tires at the nearby Walmart the previous day at 4 PM. I was forty miles away at that time and never got the tire. I don’t know what happened to tire #2.
I requested a refund for both tires which I received.
I believe at least one or both of the tires were stolen from the store itself.
One of the Walmart “coaches” (supervisors) said they had a lot of trouble with online tire orders. It may be a major, nationwide theft ring inside the company.
We live in a world in which theft is acceptable. No business can succeed in such an environment.
Product and services desert.
Keep em coming, so they can belch about that too, along
with the demands for reparations.
Was thinking the same. All around us... in Chicago, Portland, San Francisco, etc. Atlas is shrugging... as even the woke, politically correct corporations begin to call it a day and pull up their tents.
Reminds me of back in the day riding out to the W. suburbs. Conductor would sing out: "Oak Park next...Oak Park!"; "Lombard next...Lombard!".
“...You’d think at some point that city gov and LEO would would DO SOMETHING to stop, prosecute and lock up shop lifters and repeat offenders.....”
Naaaa.....
Their new demon is the same as their old demon...perhaps even worse!!!
