DeSantis faces triple-threat from Trump: GOP analysts warn Florida governor has yet to dazzle on campaign trail, can't use most of his $110m war chest for 2024 - and has cratered in polls after Trump indictment

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis's stalling 2024 campaign has been hit by a triple threat - his perceived coldness, fundraising issues - and a resurgent Donald Trump.

While DeSantis is still widely-hailed as an exceptionally-capable lawmaker, his apparent inability to connect with voters on the campaign trail outside Florida has some GOP bigwigs wondering if he has the sparkle necessary to win a presidential race.

Longtime Republican strategist Mike Murphy is among those fearful over the Florida governor's struggles with so-called 'grip-and-grin' politics.

Any possibility that he could become Trump’s VP still and then run as President in 2028, where’d he be a shoe-in?

Oh right. I forgot about that.
That means that DeSantis has to move or Florida has to be split in two.

British journalistic ignorance of our system. DeSantis is a chief executive, not a legislator.

No. He screwed up that deal by opting to go against Trump in 2024 instead of waiting until 2028.

Trump is going to pick somebody else to be his running mate. Hopefully it will be Kari Lake.

“He has raised $110 million but it is not a guarantee of success as he has experienced a shaky star on the national stage”

CARBON COPY of Jeb at this point (exactly 8 years ago), almost to the dollar, and even the same state.

GOP bigwigs wondering if he has the sparkle necessary to win a presidential race.

He'll never be as popular as Trump because Trump was well known world wide for decades.

DeSantis will never have the minority vote that Trump does. DeSantis sounds like someone who graduated from Harvard/Yale.

Of course none of it matters if the election is just stolen which will happen to any repub that's not deep state approved.

Ron is letting his political ego take over his common sense...his time will be 2028 - unless he totally screws the pooch this time around.

For Shadowing........ the literary trick for alerting what is to come

Ron is forshadowing the Trump nomination. Further, he is on the bench ready to be put int the game and win when the quarterback is injured and removed from the game

It’s almost as if the Democrats want Trump to be the nominee. I like DeSantis and think he will make an excellent President. Just not in 2024.

Trump + Lake, amusing.

The all loser ticket.

Both claim their recent electionsp were stolen from then, and they were the rightful winners.

Assuming their claims are right, what will prevent it from happening again? Few if any changes have been made to election procedures in the 5 or )6 States where Trump said there was. Cheating. And, those States also broke for D's in close statewide races.

Assuming their claims are right, what will prevent it from happening again? Few if any changes have been made to election procedures in the 5 or )6 States where Trump said there was. Cheating. And, those States also broke for D's in close statewide races.

The screws were tightened in Wisconsin and Georgia a good bit. Voter rolls were at least somewhat purged. Illegal practices by the elections administration in Wisconsin (ignoring Wisconsin election law) was held to be so by the Wisconsin Supreme Court and the massive election fraud in the nursing homes was exposed. Ballot drop boxes were curtailed and/or all but ruled out except where they can be controlled and monitored much better than they were in 2020. Also the excuse of Covid no longer exists and I think everyone is more aware of the means of election fraud used previously. For example, 3rd parties are no longer allowed to fund elections administration/oversight in various selected precincts like they were in 2020.

In Arizona, Kari Lake's lawsuit has drawn a huge spotlight on the fraudulent way that 30% of the election machines somehow "malfunctioned" on election day - Illegally. Also, it sure looks like Maricopa county did not do a legitimate signature match check as required by Arizona law. If Lake and her attorneys can get the court to now require disclosure to a 3rd party so that we can all see if the signatures on many of the mail in ballots actually match the voters' signature on file, I suspect we will discover a whole lot of them don't.

All of this will make it much tougher for the McCain machine in Maricopa county to keep stealing elections.

Nevada is supposedly going to tighten up its election laws at least some. That would help.

Obviously, Michigan and Pennsylvania won't though the election law changes to allow mass mail in voting in Pennsylvania by executive fiat from the governor were unconstitutional. Is that going to stand for next time without Covid as an excuse? That battle will have to be fought.

The key though will be to win beyond the margin of fraud. Its not too difficult to steal 1-2% of the vote. Its a LOT tougher when you have to steal say, 5% of the vote. If the economy slips into recession later this year as appears likely, I think Biden's going to be mighty unpopular by November 2024 - far more unpopular than he is currently.

I'd say Georgia, Arizona and Wisconsin are the most likely. Not sure about Nevada and Pennsylvania. Michigan appears the least likely of those states for Trump to win. The good news is he would only need the first 3 to win.

So you don’t think 2020 was stolen? You don’t believe there was cheating by the democrats?

Trump and only Trump in ’24.

See my tagline. What happens in 2028 when Trump can't run? Do you think he can dismantle the deep state in just 4 years? No, it will take many election cycles to do this. I don't know about you but I plan on being around for that and many future elections. Would you not vote for DeSantis or Cruz or any other conservative? Trump has nothing but insult and destroy the the reputation of these good conservatives. It's all about HIM. Do you think (in the unlikely event)he lost the GOP nomination that he would support a good conservative (No, not a RINO)? Most likely he would not.

Don't get me wrong. If Trump is the candidate next year I will enthusiastically vote for him. My bigger point is that the future of our country is greater than any one personality.
