Crime turned Portland into a ‘hollowed out shell.’ Its neighbors are trying to keep it from happening to them. ( Oregon )

Counties near Portland aren't experiencing the same crime surge — here's what leaders say has worked

...

PORTLAND, Ore. – Ben West remembers when Portland was a funky, artsy "crown jewel of the West Coast" with a great food scene.

"Portland is a hollowed out shell of what it used to be," said West, a Clackamas County commissioner. "Businesses are fleeing and people are leaving for greener pastures."

...

Public safety officials across Oregon have complained of rising crime in their communities, but, according to police data, crime is spiking much more dramatically in Portland than the statewide average.

"Each area has different challenges, but what we're seeing in the metro area is absolutely rising crime," Washington County District Attorney Kevin Barton told Fox News.

The Portland metro area is made of three counties: Multnomah County, which encompasses most of Portland; as well as Washington and Clackamas counties.

"The increases that we're seeing are nothing like the increases that we're seeing in our neighbors," Barton said. "Public safety is failing in Multnomah County."

...

Shocking and often gruesome headlines have become commonplace in the state's most populous county.

...

What's happening is with our de-carceration and elimination of bail culture, we've got all these people running around," said Kristin Olson, a trial attorney and host of the Rational in Portland podcast. "And it's really scary because we also have this anti-police culture."

My veterans organization is funding 6 wheelchair athletes to attend the National Veterans Wheelchair Games, which are in Portland this year.

I’m genuinely worried for them, and the other 600 or so wheelchair athletes going. And for all their family members.

There’s no way I was going. Two years from now its supposed to be in New Orleans, so maybe then.

Detroit was once a great and prosperous city where many people built a good life for themselves. Then the had a bunch of riots. Detroit never recovered.

I don’t think Portland has a future.

I did a good amount of business there 7+ years ago and it really was a cool and fun place. My client has been unloading all of his property there since before the pandemic because of all the things mentioned in this story.

No future for Portland, Eugene and many other NW cities. The same filth that ruined CA lives there now, repeating their destruction. They are atheist, environmentalists and anti-human nihilists. They will destroy Portland and every other city they get control of.

And Portland’s decline will be much faster than Detroit’s was.

Unlike a city built on heavy industry, there’s hardly any infrastructure or real estate for a major corporate player in a technology-based industry to leave behind. Relocating 5,000 jobs from City A to City B has never been easier in human history.

When a city’s voters vote to elect Demonicrats they are voting for their own destruction.

It is not “crime” it is the deliberate policies of the Democrat party to destroy our society.

Every policy Democrats support have a negative effect our our nation and because it is so wide spread it has to be on purpose.

And don’t tell me it is what the voters wanted, I am convinced now that the Democrats have learned where they are in power how to control the results with every election. Nothing else makes sense.

What is their motive, easy, money and power.

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the states closest to China in the lower 48 are the most ‘compromised’.

>>Barton noted that criminals move from county to county, so Portland needs to succeed in order for the rest of the state to succeed.

The obvious solution is to build a wall around Portland. Excise the cancer.

The Left are fanatical, nihilistic, cultural vandals who are incapable of learning anything.

Portland is doomed just as surely as San Francisco and LA are doomed.

You almost get the sense that the Babylon of Revelation 18:3-8 is referring to all American cities (collectively).

(2) And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.

(3) For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.

(4) And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.

(5) For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.

(6) Reward her even as she rewarded you, and double unto her double according to her works: in the cup which she hath filled fill to her double.

(7) How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.

(8) Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her.

The other Portland, in Maine, is turning into a total craphole over the last couple of years with all the busloads of Sub-Saharan and Sub-Texan immigrants. Well, the latter at least get under-the-table paying jobs to keep them occupied.

When I was in Portland ME back in 2019, I saw a few Caribbean blacks, Central Americans working in the restaurants, and lots of drug addicts, most (though not all of whom) were white. The Somalis were mostly in Lewiston I was told but not surprised that they have taken a trip to the coast.

Public safety officials across Oregon have complained of rising crime in their communities, but, according to police data, crime is spiking much more dramatically in Portland than the statewide average.

During the 90s I worked for a computer company located in Beaverton, OR and have flown into Portland on many occasions.

Portland was a beautiful city with lots to do and during the 90s was a very safe place to eat out {even at night}.

Today, Portland as well as all demonRAT ruined major cities are total hell holes, and no one would visit them for a vacation.

NY, Philly, Detriot, Chicago, Atlanta, SF, LA all demonRAT run and not safe places to visit.

Miami on the other hand, is attracting visitors at a record pace, and while the weather is great, the streets are fairly safe.

Why? The answer might be the mayor.

Francis Xavier Suarez, born October 6, 1977 is an American lawyer and politician serving as the 43rd mayor of Miami, Florida. He was elected on November 7, 2017, with 86 percent of the vote and was re-elected on November 2, 2021, with 78 percent of the vote.

He is a registered Republican.

Other cities should try it, it works.
