I was early enough to finding the mom’s Facebook page. Mom (Norma), back in 2017, showed photos of her two children, a boy and a girl, in several photos. The boys name was Scott, not Aiden. The girl wasn’t named, but I think they had already started scrubbing mom’s posts. Scott graduated from college in 2020, and currently lives in Brooklyn. That’s ALL been scrubbed now, but I have screen shots. She was a cute girl before she decided to go crazy. Looked like a nice family.

Yes, some of the confusion seems to be because she wasn’t fully transitioned. Her own inconsistency with her name and pronouns means the media doesn’t quite know how to write about her. Back in the old days they could just refer to her by her actual sex but the style manuals don’t allow that anymore so there’s confusion.
If nothing else, this story highlights how confusing and absurd this whole gender pronoun thing has gotten.
