Russia's president Vladimir Putin, 70, is taking tanks as old as he is out of storage in his desperate bid to crush Ukraine on the battlefield.
A video showing long obsolete Soviet-era T-54B and T-55A tanks - designed to be used in the armies of Soviet tyrant Josef Stalin - on a train carried across Russia, presumably destined for the frontlines of the war, has emerged.
It comes with Putin having already raided museums and storage depots for retired T-62 battle tanks, which halted production 12 years ago.
The geriatric T-54 was originally produced by Stalin after the Second World War in 1946, but Putin seems to be sending to war an updated version from the early 1950s - some 70 years old, the same age as the dictator.
Putin is fond of boasting of the prowess of his military capabilities. However, since his forces crossed the border into Ukraine over a year ago, his armies have been exposed as being outdated both tactically and in terms of equipment.

You said virtually identical things a year ago to those who didn't believe that the war would be over within 2 weeks with an overwhelming Russian victory. So that didn't occur a year ago, as you said, in the springtime because of a milder winter 8-9 months later?
When and if Russia does end up pulling this off, you'll waltz in claiming you and your sources were "right all along" even though you and they have in fact been consistently, repeatedly, and completely wrong in your analysis and predictions the entire time.
What a bizarre effort to explain away the massive loss of modern Russian tanks, and then the not-so-modern tanks, and then the desperate act of shipping in museum pieces.

You are quite correct to an extent - an old tank (that is operational) is certainly better than no tank.
You know how it is when, late in the forth quarter one team is leading 110 to 6 and the winning coach starts substituting in the B and C team players...
The theater is about the best suited for armor anywhere. That place is flat. And all those ex Soviet designs were developed on that terrain. Kharkiv was the principal tank/armor R&D and manufacturing center of the Soviet Union.
The circumstances include, most importantly, Russian institutional incapacity.
Won’t be much of a parade this year since most of the “elite” 2nd “Taman” Guards Motor Rifle Division and the 4th “Kantemir” Guards Tank Division were turned to compost in Ukraine.

Oh China may very well send tanks into russia soon - crewed with PLA soldiers, ready to bring russia’s far East and Siberian territories back into Chinese possesion while the remnants of russia’s mobiks get turned into puree by the AFU inside their T-55 museum pieces.
That’s all these threads normally are - back and forth. Difficult to have any real discussion.
People claiming one side or the other has had 100% success in this war without a hitch. Same people claiming for over a year the war was just weeks or days away from being over with an overwhelming victory or retreat - and you are a propagandist if you point out the reality this did not occur. You’re a “neocon Biden supporter” if you aren’t inspired by a speech that declares the West was evil from its inception and “founded” the slave trade, etc.
