New York(CNN) Rupert Murdoch, the chairman of Fox Corporation, acknowledged in a deposition taken by Dominion Voting Systems that some Fox News hosts endorsed false claims that the 2020 election was stolen.
Murdoch's remarks were made public in a legal filing as part of Dominion's $1.6 billion lawsuit against Fox News.
In his deposition, Murdoch rejected that the right-wing talk network as an entity endorsed former President Donald Trump's election lies. But Murdoch conceded that Sean Hannity, Jeanine Pirro, Maria Bartiromo, and former host Lou Dobbs promoted the falsehood about the presidential contest being stolen.
"Some of our commentators were endorsing it,," Murdoch said, according to the filing, when asked about the talk hosts' on-air positions about the election. "I would have liked us to be stronger in denouncing it, in hindsight," he added.
The filing also revealed that Murdoch referred to some of Trump's 2020 election lies as "bulls**t and damaging."
In a Monday statement, Fox News assailed Dominion.
"Dominion's lawsuit has always been more about what will generate headlines than what can withstand legal and factual scrutiny," the network said, "as illustrated by them now being forced to slash their fanciful damages demand by more than half a billion dollars after their own expert debunked its implausible claims."
"Their summary judgment motion took an extreme, unsupported view of defamation law that would prevent journalists from basic reporting and their efforts to publicly smear Fox for covering and commenting on allegations by a sitting President of the United States should be recognized for what it is: a blatant violation of the First Amendment," the network added.
The messages showed that Tucker Carlson, Sean Hannity, and Laura Ingraham brutally mocked lies being pushed by former President Donald Trump's camp asserting that the election was rigged.

Prime time opinion hosts having suspicions , skepticisms about election fraud is perfectly natural and healthy. To claim otherwise is to know with certainty that fraud did not exist and no one knows that to this day.
They offered time to those that countered the establishment line. They reported, you decide.
Whereas, a CNN or MSNBC stenographer would adopt their opinions as gospel and peddle it as fact. They may be proven true someday,.....but I doubt it.

Even if it was proven that there were ineligible votes there’s no way to know who those votes were for or if they affected the outcome.

Precisely WHY those ballots that had NO chain of custody or proofed from a voter in the LEGAL fashion— should have been removed from the count period. And the multiple feeding of ballots by the two fraudsters was done— illegally without Poll Watcher from EITHER PARTY.
So, in fact with the net result being that Trump had soundly beaten Biden in GA— which he did— would have been the proper lawful outcome. Fulton County is run by criminals— just like the idiotic Fani Willis DA (she being the daughter of a Black Panther big wig— sets the agenda for her under the direction of the equally criminal Elections Supervisor, and the Consultant NON- GA State employee (State Director of Elections, private individual contracted) both should have been fired for allowing this— and they knew it all.
I haven’t seen evidence of that and Trump’s team has never even claimed fraud where it matters - in court - but I guess I could be convinced.
Every time they’ve been given that chance in a venue where their answer had consequences they say no fraud, just irregularities. Their statements to the media don’t convince me.
I think there was sloppy administration in places and maybe procedural problems but nothing illegal that could have changed the outcome.
Can it be proven?
Since it’s been over 2 years and we still don’t even have a formal claim of fraud, I doubt it, but we’ll see.
The burden of proof is on those alleging fraud.
That won’t stop folks from trying.
How could we know the removed ballots would have favored Biden?
I’m just saying, despite what we “know” in our guts there’s no practical way to go anywhere with claims of irregularities.
