Ford will cut 3,800 jobs in Europe as the company restructures to focus on developing its all-electric fleet, the company announced Tuesday.
The layoffs and restructuring are part of the company’s response to “rapidly changing market conditions” and increased competition in the electric vehicle industry, Ford said in a press release. The company missed its earnings expectations by $1.1 billion in the fourth quarter of 2022 and was down $11 billion from the same time the year prior, according to CNBC. “These are difficult decisions, not taken lightly,” said Martin Sander, general manager of Ford Model e in Europe, in the company’s announcement. “We recognize the uncertainty it creates for our team, and I assure them we will be offering them our full support in the months ahead. We will engage in consultations with our social partners so we can move forward together on building a thriving future for our business in Europe.”
The company is investing $50 billion into its electric vehicle lineup and its plans to make its European fleet all-electric by 2035 are unaltered, Ford announced. Chief Financial Officer John Lawler said in early February that the company would need to be “very aggressive” in cutting costs to compensate for an anticipated $5 billion increase in operating costs in 2023, Reuters reported.

Switching to all EVs is like hitting yourself in the head with a hammer.
It feels so good when you stop!.........................
More like pivoting toward bankruptcy. 🙄
I can pretty much guarantee we’ve go our last vehicles now. Neither one are plug ins. Our electric bill is high enough already.
Ford is betting the farm on the wrong horse.
It would be a good idea not to buy any vehicle made by Ford. They will soon be out of business.
This will be one of those corporate strategic blunders that takes down a gigantic company.
They are walking into the governmental trap that EV’s are mandated to be a replacement vehicle option when those governments know well there is not enough grid electricity for a massive transformation.
REMEMBER: Popular demand is not driving this. Governments are driving this. What they demand now can be rescinded and reversed later.
The governments can quickly outlaw electric vehicles and strand the world’s citizens suckered into the ruse.
The long-term goal is for nobody to have ANY personal vehicles at all except bicycles.
Transportation is headed in the direction of electric vehicles but electricity production is headed in the direction of wind and solar power.
What could possibly go wrong?
The bicycle business is going to be booming.
All of those let-go employees and their families and friends might be less than enthusiastic about buying electric cars.
85% of Americans took the vax. That is holocaust level obedience without question. America will do what they’re told.
The country you remember is long gone. But mail in ballots saved lives.
RAM has the right concept.
Ford is committing seppuku at the behest of globalists and emotionally compromised shareholders. Same with GM.
‘Mandates’ will become the norm.
Welcome to USSA, all under the guise of ‘saving the planet’.
Dumbasses.
The only one I am aware of that isn’t “transitioning” to all EV is Toyota. At least for the time being. Sad damn thing that so many folks are so easily led to slaughter. Just get on the train. We’re going to the shore for a holiday..........
There are just not enough resources to switch to EV’s totally, not enough rare earth minerals or the basics like Copper to change to expand the grid, or even though power generating capacity.
Mark Ford and GM down as going bankrupt in the name of Green energy polices.
Henry Ford I and the Henry II will be rolling on their graves at this.
Just like our elected federal officials, the mission of Ford’s executives is to manage an orderly decline and dismantlement of the organization they oversee.
EVs = Dead-End
EV’s are A flash in the pan. The future is with hydrogen. Until then gas powered vehicles aren’t going anywhere. Ford is committing suicide.
Like the days of royalty, only the wealthy will be able to drive.
True That ‘49er’
Fords EV 150 truck is in trouble.
15% ers. 🔬🦠😵💫🚫😷💉💊🐂💩
I called Ford bankruptcy in 1st quarter 2024.
Imagine a hybrid car that's not part gasoline, part EV. Imagine hybrid BEV / HEV. Since the battery is easier to charge (and can be charged at home) than refilling the hydrogen tank, the battery should be the main power source for many miles, not just 30 or 50 miles like a PHEV. It'd be nice if the battery could go 200 or more miles. But if you're driving through a charging desert and the battery charge gets low, it can turn on the hydrogen fuel cell to get more power to go another couple of hundred miles.
Correct. This is a win for Toyota.
