Bad news: On basically every other front, crime is winning.
It sure looks like the NYPD just lacks the resources needed for an across-the-board sea change, at least as long as the Legislature refuses to fix its disastrous criminal-justice reforms. And the mayor’s occasional claims that public fears about crime are just a “perception” are wildly false.
Major crimes — the ones most tracked by CompStat: murder, robbery, burglary, grand larceny, car theft and rape — hit 126,588, up 22.4% from 2021 and a post-2007 high. Every category except homicide last year topped the 2021 level.
And those categories don’t include a host of “non-major” felonies, such as criminal mischief, criminal contempt (typically for violating a judicial order) and dangerous-weapons complaints.

In all, the city last year saw more than 170,000 felonies reported, the most since it started releasing such stats in 2006. The record 172,852 for 2022 is up 20.4% from the 143,522 in 2021. (The 2006 total: 171,318 felony complaints.)
Meanwhile, misdemeanors in 2022 hit an eight-year high at 264,672 — including almost 100,000 complaints of harassment, plus more than 40,000 minor assaults.
Not to mention shoplifting, which is also setting records (over 63,000 in 2022, a 45% jump over 2021 and more than 2½ times the level of the mid-2000s) even though merchants increasingly don’t even bother reporting it.
Retailers tell The Post that nothing’s improved in the two months since the mayor’s high-profile December summit on the shoplifting catastrophe.

This is news? It’s almost like they think there would be some other outcome.
No surprise there.
After all, he is a democrat, and no matter what the background, they all stick together policy-wise.
The only remedy for NYC and all other blue cities/states what have high-crime problems, it to get rid of the democrats running those areas, and preferably elect tough-on-crime republicans (iow: no RINOs).
Ballots ( Dominion machines connected to the internet, illegals... ) are different than votes from citizens.

The folks that could leave, have left-
Many folks planning on getting out, ASAP.
Some just a bit longer to wait - kids, parents job etc . . .
Those that stay get what they refuse to fight-
Zeldin, the weakest of weak Candidates, came close.
They’ll never let that happen again-
Florida has a larger population, and HALF the state budget.

New York and NYC will never be anything like it was -
Al the things that made it great are gone for good.

Is it his fault or is it the DA’s fault? Maybe Adams can call Ray Kelly...and Bratton as well...and sign them up as consultants.

But they’ve achieved true Social Justice! It’s heaven on earth.
About fifteen years ago, a colleague was offered an economic development contract by NYS to improve its attractiveness to business and industry. I told him it was just laughable to think they would do anything serious to actually improve their business climate. I can’t remember if he took the job.
They don’t have enough bunk space at Rikers.

The Big Apple is rotting from the inside.
It couldn’t be because of the no bail policy that releases criminals back on the street before the arresting officer can complete the paper work. Could it?

“With all due respect to GOP nominee Curtis Sliwa, Eric Adams remains our choice for mayor. He’s simply far better suited to do what they both agree is Job No. 1: Get on top of the crime and public disorder plaguing New York.
He’s also better equipped to lead the fightback against the other issues afflicting this great city post-pandemic: Get businesses reopened, get commuters and tourists back . . . and keep them back.”
