Signs of unrest surfaced almost immediately after the team's 38-35 defeat Sunday night - with disgruntled fans swarming City Hall and clashing with cops that had been stationed throughout the city in case of such an outcome.
Police scanner audio since 10:30pm suggested police had made multiple arrests, as citizens were seen scaling lampposts, chanting 'f*** the Chiefs', and hurling glass bottles throughout the city's Downtown neighborhood.
Footage circulating on social media also shows several residents lighting fireworks, with others egging on armed SWAT teams tasked with keeping the piece.
In one shocking clip, a group of Philadelphians are seen lighting fireworks, with some reports indicating the explosives are being thrown at officers.
Cops were using tear gas to deter any further disruptions, after a crushing defeat highlighted by game-altering penalties.
The loss is compounded by the fact the city's baseball team, the Phillies, similarly crashed out of the World Series just a few months ago.

Well it is Philly and they will use any excuse to get violent...it’s the nature of the city now.
Philly’s only going to get worse....just when you think it couldn’t. Perhaps like Detroit grew to be.
That’s funny because that’s how I see it too. Even though I’m from Pa. f* the Eagles.
Yeah, that’s pretty much how I saw it. There could have been a more exciting finish. I think the worst part of the call is that the defenders,on both teams, had probably been doing a lot of grabbing throughout the game and it is generally tolerated. In any case, the Eagles offense had really slowed in the 2nd half. Only a field goal in the 3rd quarter and that one touchdown in the 4th. They certainly had their chances.
Well, you’re certainly entitled to an opinion.
They would have rioted if it was a tie.
;-)

Piece of what? We uns demands to know!
Yes!
I wondered which would be worse for the city of “brotherly love”, the Iggles winning, or the Iggles losing?
its philly anyone expect different??
“The tense of your post is wrong”
I stand corrected.
Mea Culpa, Mea Culpa, Mea Maxima Culpa
Compared to many games I had seen this season, this one was very clean. Almost all the penalties called were of the technical variety such as Offsides, False Start and Delay of Game (yeah, I’m looking at YOU Philly, wasn’t enough flags tossed for your hijinks). Only one minor kerfuffle. No coaches raging hard at the officials. Of course, one could argue that the officials were being quite lenient. Also notable was the lack of injuries on the field that caused any players to head for the locker room.
Even when KC lost the ‘Bowl to the Bucs, I don’t recall any rioting, just some nasty hangovers.
Our team lost.
We’re angry; our anger is directed at the team that won, and the city in which it is based.
Therefore, we’re going to riot and wreck our city ...
There’s some really strange thinking going on here.
