Donald Trump’s presidential campaign is nearly three months old, but already it’s clear whom he sees as his biggest threat with the Iowa caucuses still a year away: Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.
The perspective comes as Trump continues to act more like an underdog in the race for the Republican nomination. In recent days, the former president has gone after DeSantis, with Trump somehow claiming that Florida “was closed for a long period of time” after the COVID-19 pandemic hit in March 2020.
“They’re trying to rewrite history,” he added of DeSantis in an interview earlier this week.
It’s an odd front for Trump to open given that he praised DeSantis’s re-opening approach three years ago. Not surprisingly, the 45th president also failed to mention that he advocated lockdowns in the spring of 2020.

Back in 2016, I recall Cruz was losing to Trump in the primary, and rather than withdraw, he met with Obama (on AF1), the Bushes, and other DS elites to work out providing more financing $ for him to continue his campaign.
I recently read about DeSantis’s meeting with Ryan, McConnell, and McCarthy. I suspect it was a similar type of “financial backing” meeting, and Desantis is now DS owned.
Trump is the only one who can’t be bought, and doesn’t need to rely on DS money and thus is beholden to no one.
agree. so why did trump go with romney’s niece who grifted republican funds and learned nothing from 2020. Nor does she show any sign of having a clue as to how to do 2024.

Name a recent POTUS who was as successful as Trump? Look at what Trump accomplished:
Gas price per gallon was about $2.30;
Inflation about 1.4%, mortgage rates were half of what they are now;
Unemployment was low before Covid and before Blue Governors shut everything down and we were in the midst of a V-shape recovery until January 22, 2021;
Tax decrease; tax laws promoted small businesses as well as large;
US enjoyed energy independence - No Green Agenda, no war on energy, No Paris Treaty;
No war in Ukraine, no threat of nuclear war, NATO paid its way;
China was quiet and we were winning the trade war;
US companies were bringing home the jobs due to well executed tax treatments;
Peace in the Middle East aka Abraham Accords; US Embassy moved to Jerusalem; and Iran was isolated.
Got three non-left “I don't know what a woman is” Supreme Court Justices on the bench allowing Roe vs Wade to be overturned.
Who the heck can accomplish the above in four years while being impeached twice and investigated by Obama's Weaponized Agencies?

How so? He hasn't even declared yet, and may not. Trump's relentless attacks are what is divisive, especially if DeSantis doesn't even run. Trump has ruined any chance that DeSantis will be his VP, is the only thing that's sure so far. And that is unfortunate.
