Consumers could be in a 'world of hurt' if Biden doesn't act soon, former Walmart CEO warns
FoxBusiness ^ | 1/29/23 | Kayla Bailey

On Sunday, former Walmart CEO Bill Simon joined "Fox & Friends Weekend" to warn Americans of the detrimental impact corporate layoffs could have on the U.S.'s feeble economy.

"It's crazy right now. We're stuck in this loop of, wage inflation, product inflation, and cost inflation. And it's just that cycle keeps going. And I think, unfortunately, an inevitable byproduct of some of the Fed's moves and as the necessary medicine we have to take to kind of cool things down and get the inflation back under control on some of these layoffs that are coming," Simon explained to co-host Will Cain.

SOME complete idiot making decisions about essential businesses at the beginning shut down the production of gallon/ half gallon milk jugs.

Dairy farmers were dumping milk-—no containers.

2 dairy farms—4 generations—sold 630 dairy cows in one day at local livestock sale.

Put them totally out of business.

Vet on hand at sale cried.

A little money, generator, some debt that came from a few pricey medical misadventures.

“Everybody thought making $18-$20 an hour was ok to pretty good...”

______

Remember when the “Fight for $15.00” started and activists were protesting in front of fast food restaurants complaining because they couldn’t survive on $12.00 per hour? Conservatives tried to explain then that artificial wage increases (without increased production) would mean that a loaf of bread would increase to $4.00. Such responses were ignored and we were told we didn’t understand economics.

I suspect many will soon learn that the true minimum wages is, in fact, zero!
.....
I agree the minimum wage is zero.
They sure have dumbed down everyone. There will be a fight on the debt limit, then everyone will think they are doing something, but they will just increase it like they always so. Life will go on. Whats the US to do? Fiat money, and debt spending... and a bunch of Grifters in charge and parasites supporting them.

I’d be around 250k if it weren’t for mine.

For many months I was recovering from all the surgery and major things around home broke and I was too weak to do much so I had to pay for more support stuff.

“JUST like the “take the jab” lies.

We live in an age of lies. /Captain Obvious”

_______

It is indeed an “age of lies”.

As to corporate economic media, the WSJ is the worst of all. Many people call them a conservative site, but they are far from it. They still have a few conservative editorial writers, but the economic reporters are nothing but shills for the Biden administration. They will write articles on the front page practically repeating word for word Biden’s statements on the booming economy to the point that they actually report bad economic news as a Biden “success”.

In addition, they jumped on every accusation against Trump with both feet, while ignoring the democrats’ malfeasance. As an aside, it is very telling as to which stories to which they allow comments and which they do not. To date, there has been no reporting by the WSJ on the FBI’s Charles McGonigal and his “collusion” with Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska, although there was one (and only one) editorial on the charges.

Decades ago, you could depend on the WSJ for fair reporting on the economy with just the facts cited in their articles. Now, they do a great disservice to the readers who depend upon them for economic reporting. More often than not, they are headlines in the mornings with a headline such as “Stocks poised to go up on good economic news”, only to have the DJIA open down as people delve into the actual numbers and realize the latest economic numbers aren’t that good at all.

Consumers will be in a world of hurt if he does act.

What makes this idiot think Biden can solve his problem or any problem?

Consolidation is the one thing -- other than layoffs -- that Joe Sixpack recognizes as recessionary. You tell me if ALL of these chicken restaurants make it through 2023. I don't think so.

KFC, Popeyes, Church's, Bojangles, Buffalo Wild Wings, Lee's, Chester's, Zaxby's, Chick-Fil-A, Raising Cane's, Wing Street (Pizza Hut), It's Just Wings (Chili's), WingStop, and WingZone.

Also Hooters, Applebee's, Cook Out, Culvers, and Rally's lean heavily on fast chicken. And there a dozen smaller chicken-only chains like Rooster's, Twisted Tenders, Joella's, Chick Salad Chick, etc.

Taco Bell is supposedly primed to go hard on chicken in 2023, and has brought back their crispy wings for the Super Bowl. There just isn't a sustainable capacity for 18 different national chicken chains.

I’m an antiques and vintage shopper, among other things. Every one of those places was CLOSED UP TIGHT. Do you know how sparsely those places are shopped? 6 feet apart was always more than common. Hell, I might’ve been one of a handful of customers in the places. It still rankles me. I like small mom and pop businesses. I love to support small businesses, having grown up in a family business. Non-essential?! To hell with that. Every effin’ penny was essential.

Instead we got stuck doing our clothes and *other* shopping at Walmart and Target and the grocery store for months on end. Along with everyone else. Go this direction, don’t go that one.

A freaking year later, I was allowed to go into Target and try on clothing. May I remind you that there was a no returns policy for all that time? Good grief. Change a size or two (up or down) and you’re screwed if it didn’t fit. I’m glad I had no growing kids.

Maybe you live in Florida with a great governor. Mine is a freaking RINO.

“Go this direction, don’t go that one.”

I remember the arrows on the floor but completely ignored them as did many others here. I also remember Gov Inslee directing that pot shops would be considered “essential”. Yes, I recall that no returns were allowed but that didn’t last long here. Some people would go in and exchange clothing items for different sizes on the racks on their own (how do I know that?). Best not have security tags, though. I also remember that at Jack-in-the-Box (fast food restaurant) that although they were accepting cash, the employees could not take it directly out of your hand. Instead, the money had to be placed on the counter and picked up from there. And they would not hand you change or the order. There were lots of crazy practices that seem ludicrous now.

Yep, we already know that. I’ll remove the reference to ageofmary. There is no actual danger since the original link was simply to display an image. No scripting or anything like that was involved.

I still don’t get any warning unless I enter the ageofmary URL in the browser’s navigation control.
