Electric car batteries could be used to boost power storage in the future, injecting electricity into the grid during times of scarcity or storing electricity during periods of excess, a new study found Tuesday.
Renewable energy is essential for the Paris Agreement goal of limiting global warming to well below two degrees Celsius, but the need to scale up quickly and the intermittency of wind and solar have raised concerns about meeting electricity demand.
One way to help solve this problem is boosting the storage capacity of electricity grids, so that even when there is no sun or wind energy supply won’t be interrupted.
New research published Tuesday found that electric car batteries could help boost short-term grid storage in times of increased demand or lower supply, either by setting up “vehicle-to-grid” or “second use” schemes.
“Harnessing this potential will have critical implications for the energy transition,” said the study published in Nature Communications.

The grid = the Borg
Resistance is futile
So, by deactivating coal, gas and nuclear to the point that the grid is unstable and unsustainable at 1st world levels, they want you to use your car, not to drive, but to prop up their failing grid? Brilliant!!
Thank you, I will check it out.
“injecting electricity into the grid during times of scarcity”
Ahahahaha. So you plug your car in at night, trying to charge it, but if the grid is running low, it will just drain your car instead :D
So, on a calm dark cold night you discharge your car battery to keep warm. Then in the morning, when you need to drive to work…
Since CO2 is soluble in water and the oceans cover a majority of the Earth's surface, the oceans sequester more CO2 than any other CO2 sink.
Because of the inverse solubility of CO2 with temperature, the colder the oceans get, the more CO2 they can absorb.
Conversely, when the oceans get warmer, they expel CO2.
Atmospheric CO2 therefore follows global temperatures, it does not cause them.
You can see the yearly global atmospheric CO2 fluctuation as the oceans warm and cool with the seasons in the NOAA graph below.
The "settled science" that CO2 causes "climate change" is therefore criminal sophistry.
They could use those car batteries to power big electric fans to blow air onto the wind turbines to produce power which could be used by the grid to power the car batteries (I apologize in advance for the left wing green new deal progressive circular logic).
“they would be simultaneously pushing for research on carbon trapping”
Seems to me that nature has already done that research for us and given us trees and vegetation, and they are patent-free, no royalties.
So everyone call in sick or take the bus today, your car is need to power the grid.
Like they won’t know you disconnected it and it is not moving.
Shame on you. You can't be "sincere" about a hoax.
“Electric car batteries could be key to boosting energy storage: study”
Sounds like we’re FINALLY getting to the rut of the EV car push.
It’s more likely electric cars will be the equivalent of everyone flushing their toilet at the same time.
One way to help solve this problem is boosting the storage capacity of electricity grids,
...not so sure. I could have modes on my vehicle for when it is plugged in:
* Charge only
* Allow to only power my home during power outage
* Allow a discharge back to the grid during peak times up to 20% of charge
* Etc.
If everyone is having varying remote work schedules then all the EV’s could behave as some form of giant capacitor and distribute the grid, making us more resilient and less prone to complete outages.
And it’s not too hot or cold. Goldilocks is more realistic than this
That’s the catch.
It will be mandated you leave your(the state’s) battery attached.
Watch as California leads the way.
