Houston police are asking a bystander who shot a man 9 times and killed him while he was in the act of robbing people inside a Houston restaurant to come forward for questioning. FOX 26's Gabby Hart spoke with local criminal defense attorney Price Brown about if the incident could be considered self-defense.

none - he should have said ‘hey you’ so the guy turned around and took some chest shots instead of shooting him in the back. When dude was down on the ground, standing over him and headshotting was also a bad idea. Stopping a criminal and restraining him for the cops is one thing; summary execution is crossing the Rubicon. imo
Alec Baldwin defense?
White guy (white Hispanic?), shooting after threat is stopped, Ogg as DA.
10-20 years is what she’ll ask for.
yea.....only cops can shoot someone 47 times and get a award. Just maybe the perp wasn’t dead, and he may have been reaching for his fake gun. Im sure the cops don’t want to reimburse the shooter for his ammo, so screw them. Let them waste 500 man hours and some overtime looking for a innocent patriot, instead of pursuing some meth heads or crack heads selling $hit at the elementary school in town.
I was joking in response to a joking post.
An aside, I would think he didn’t stay around because he kept shooting the guy.
Would you turn yourself in? I wouldn’t.
It was a taco place. Some are open 24/7.
I talked.to a Harris County Sheriff officer today about this. He didn’t know about HPD but said the county was not looking for the guy to his knowledge.
Agreed if they identify him they will charge him. The final shot to the head after he was clearly neutralized makes it impossible to not face charges.
However unless the prosecution could show this man had a pattern that makes him a threat to society, if I was on the jury I would nullify regardless of what the law says.
Clear of a case for jury nullification if there ever was one.
The Alec Baldwin defense.
No Anglo-Saxons were involved in the incident. Looked like a good place for authentic food, however.
Darn! I wrote the same thing before I scrolled down to see yours.
I suspect you have not been in many shoot outs. The “hey you” concept is the most ...ill say, uneducated and ignorant comment I’ve heard all day.
There is nothing in the law in the slightest that says you have to shoot him in the front.
You should probably just audit this thread and not do it for a grade.
Cops would have shot him until dead.
Completely justified use of deadly force...there was no way to know the perp’s gun was fake, and when you’re in that situation, your first job is to stop the threat. The perp chose his fate.
Probably shot him until he was down. Likely would have killed him. But they wouldn’t have secured his weapon, stepped back, then stepped forward and delivered a head shot.
He’s safely back in Mexico. And his actions were straight out of gang world or cartel world. Smart, patient, and then strike with zero mercy, for all the marbles.. then leave.
What kind of idiot robs a taqueria at 11 at night with a BB gun? Good way to get your lamp blowed out, and he did.
He handed the money back to everyone then split. Try to find a jury where you don’t get one hold out “Not Guilty” even if the cops manage to catch him, and that old sow of a DA prosecutes him.
Great minds :-)
And as someone else pointed out, his buddy at the table didn’t bat an eye while he blazed away. Not their first rodeo I suspect.
And I also haven’t heard an ID on the rapper turning his life around who got shot.
“Junior did you see anything...??”
Shooting him AFTER he had taken the gun away from the downed robber, was a bad move.
= = =
If he has watched any action movies, the bad guy always rises from the assumed dead to grab a gun or whatever.
He still could have been twitching and it was misinterpreted as reaching for a weapon.
