‘Bleeding blue’: Cops flee NYPD in biggest exodus since 9/11
NY Post ^ | January 7, 2023 | By Dean Balsamini

The NYPD saw 3,701 cops retire or resign in 2022, the most since the post-9/11 exodus in 2002, when 3,846 cops said goodbye to the job, according to data obtained by The Post.

Pension fund numbers reveal the 2022 exits are 32% more than the 2,811 who left in 2021.

The mass migration took place as the NYPD hired 1,982 officers in 2022, leaving the department down some 1,700 cops, the data suggests.

Bail reform, resentment for the city’s vaccination mandate, the defund-the-police movement, cops feeling disrespected, and the lure of higher pay and lower stress proved to be the final push out the door for many cops.

Alexandre Tilan, 29, had six years on the job with the NYPD when he left the force in April, despite not being anywhere near the 22-year threshold for a half-pay retirement pension. He joined the St. Petersburg Police Department in Florida a month later.

“Since I’ve been here there’s been more respect,” said Tilan, now a member of the Suncoast Police Benevolent Association. “When I come to work, people say, ‘You’re always smiling.'”

“I was at top pay with the NYPD, which I think sits around $89,000. Right now … in Florida, I’m making $72,000,” said Tilan. “However, the weekly [take home is] higher because of the lack of state and city tax. When I reach top pay here it will be over $100,000.”

What is frightening is to think of the woketard Nazis they’ll hire to replace them.

They won’t hire anybody. Hiphop mayor clubber will just give the budget to his homies. Like the fake black/Italian before him.

Greg Kelly will be next Mayor. Hard to cheat when 12% vote for Mayor. Pissed off boroughs will overwhelm the cheat machine.

I think there could come a time when conscription will be suggested by some to fill inner city police forces, after the lunatic Democrats and further Left go through their “defund” games and the many “victims” of police “brutality” collect enough from inner city coffers to bankrupt them. What to do when no one wants to “serve?” Conscript, probably proposed through the military, state or federal, in some way. Inner cities are the lesions on the body politic today, oozing wounds of “social experimentation.” Want to be a policeman there?

The same thing is happening in Chicago. Standards are being lowered in order to get applicants, and now there are regularly awkward reports of rookie cops and academy enrollees (always minorities) committing crimes — off-duty road rage incidents or brandishing their service weapon during an argument, requesting sexual favors from women they encounter while on duty, etc.

Well, at least it will take out the “dead wood” who live all the way out on Lawn Guyland or upstate.

Cop, fire, and teachers unions need to be eliminated along with any public sector unions.

Expect problems from the ones who are hired to replace them.

Makes sense. Post 9/11 hires hit their 20 year mark and retired.

Yep. The worst of the worst are becoming cops. AA hires are becoming the leaders of police departments all across the nation. Cities will pay anything to get a black female lesbian police chief. Look at Danielle Outlaw. Cities were bidding for her and every place she “lead” is a complete violent s hole. Oakland, Portland, now Philly.
“Sure the cities are burning and blacks kill each other at alarming rates BUT HEY. She’s the “first.”

The mayor can contract Blackwater to police the city.

Same in Seattle. Over a hundred have left since the woke city council de-funded the cops.

Since rectifying the pathologies which have caused this shortage is out of the question, there are only two possible solutions:

1.) Increase pay
2.) Lower the standards.

As a rule I despise cops. They are Democrat union members enforcing mostly bullschiff Democrat laws.
They avoid the really important laws because that is dangerous eg violence.
Cops aren’t even listed in the top ten most dangerous jobs.
Most cops today are just revenuer’s.
What makes us safer is an armed society where most criminals are afraid to commit crimes.

They all come to NC too because apparently NC state partners with NYs health insurance or something.

Maybe this is all part of the plan to have everyone just sit in their cubicles watching TV and waiting of their next meal delivery. They’ll have virtual everything else without ever stepping outside, so why take chances in the jungle?

Their efforts are frustrated and they’re despised for even trying. Who wants to work under those conditions?

The blue line is thinning in MA too. Three healthy law enforcement officers, 1 in his 20s and 2 in their 40s, died suddenly in 4 days in December:
